First, massively unfortunate placements in the first two rounds. The Utawarerumono thing reminds me of Homura 'from' AT2, which was nominated and fell short of the cut. Dig that track and dig this one for many of the same reasons. Second, I have had Warframe - We All Lift Together on loop for the past hour and-a-half and in that time it jumped from a low 7 to an 8.5. So unfair that it's going against DigiFamily, which is my overall second favorite song in the bracket (there's, like, three 10s this year that is CraZY [crazy}) Best day since the last best day. I definitely like this more than Lucky Charm, but I can't really put my finger on why. I guess maybe it has a stronger melodic focus than Lucky Charm? I did say something along the lines of wanting that in Lucky Charm. 1:14-1:36 is the highlight of this song for me, probably mainly because of that first arpeggiated chord haha. The rest of that part is cool too though, especially the snare hits at 1:25. But I find myself eagerly anticipating that one chord the whole time lol. I think it's a 7th chord? Maybe a 9 thrown in there too. If so, that may help explain it because I really like 7th chords and how lush they sound. Sadly, this song's no match for its opponent. Kimi ga Tame's great! I like the Mask of Truth version a little bit more because of the strings after the intro, but this version's almost just as good. This version sounds a little less "full" during that part, but the flute has a really nice sound to it, so there isn't a huge difference in enjoyment. MATCH 2 I think DigiFamily's intro is really cool, but the rest of the song isn't quite as good as the hype I get from that intro. That said, it is pretty solid melodically! Besides the intro, 1:16-2:01 holds my interest more than the rest of the song. I don't know why, but I'm getting a sense of deja vu writing this lol. Feels like I've already commented on the intro specifically. I usually go for faster paced songs when it comes to folk music, but I still appreciate how it's done here. Catchy melody, particularly in the verse, and 1:11-1:40 is really cool with the backing instruments. I don't like the chorus as much, but it's fine. I picked We All Lift Together in my favorites bracket, but when I listened to the matches today, I initially felt like DigiFamily was edging it out slightly. Right now, I've lost a little bit of interest in DigiFamily and that's enough to stick with We All Lift Together. Super close match though and I'm fine with whichever song wins. MATCH 3 Space Mode's a really neat song! Very upbeat and funky. From the melody and chords to the rhythm, there's a lot to like about this! I always wish I liked MARIA more than I do, but it just doesn't hold my interest in the way many other Atelier songs do. It's not that it's a slow, soft song, because I'm fine with those and like plenty of songs like that, including this one. I guess it's that I wish the melody was more...dynamic? I'd still take this over both match 2 songs, but it's not good enough to beat Space Mode, unfortunately.
