Currently on Mission 12 of DMC1.

It's pretty fun. A bit janky, but that's okay since it's a 20 year old game. Not sure if I should play DMC2 or skip it.

The response here was that you should skip DMC2. I guess if the opinion of PotD is to be trusted, you should skip it

Yeah, first one was pretty good. I couldn't get into the 2nd game when it came out. I have yet to revisit the series despite owning each of them.

You can skip 2. Even the creators barely acknowledged it in the recap for 5. Read a synopsis if you really care,but I can't think of anything plot relevant in it.

The 2nd game basically tried to do too many things differently and fucked everything up. The mechanics it did add just weren't very well-designed. Story and characters were pretty stupid as well.

Dante was a very different character too, probably why 3 is a prequel and it goes back to him being even more "spunky" and upbeat than even the first game was.

I have heard 5 is better than 4.

The weird alternate universe game is weird, but the combat is actually pretty good. Just has a very different flow to it.

DMC1 is my favorite although it is dated. Love the atmosphere of the game. The second was a terrible let down to me.

That's subjective. Gameplay and graphics I would say 5 is better than 3 but with everything outside of that I'd say 3 is better. Overall though I do have more nostalgia for the first game than all of them. The second game in the series is the only game I'd say is terrible. Although I did enjoy playing as Luica.

Edit: Oh also DmC: Devil May Cry isn't part of the series and honestly shouldn't even have been made.

It was essentially a completely unfinished game, the series future and current Director(Itsuno) was enlisted to help finish the game, by the time he got to the game it was 6 or so months to ship and they had only finished 1 single attack animation and the most barren of levels.

As a result you ended up with a game with only the most barebones gameplay and content, piss poor A.I and just generally a really bad game. It's too much to get into a text post.

You can win the entire game by spamming the gun attack too, not even joking.

Just beat Devil May Cry 1. Very fun game.

Now debating on whether I try out DMC2 or go straight to DMC3.

I need to play #5 still.

I thought the ending was funny for the first one xD

I really need to get back into that series, I played DMC3 back in the day, loved it, never beat it and ended up buying 4 but also never played it.

Afaik no remaster has touched up the game besides some HD textures maybe, Capcom hasn't really touched this game since they know it's not worth the effort.

I totally forgot about the final bosses.

A big mass of monster parts and then a House of the Dead 2 homage
