every time id comes up on my playlist I always ho hum and drag my feet around preparing to give it a listen. and I always like it better than I think I do. I can't tell if it is my difficult relationship with the game or how I tend to prefer the more intense and less hopeful Fire Emblem Final Level tracks. Or maybe it's a mix of both? Who knows. On the flip side, I've grown a fondness for the Genesis soundchip despite never actually owning one. This track definitely goes harder the later on we go. Solid, but I think I prefer Id.

Brave New World is good fun. Really peppy to the point that I think it is the only reason why I think of Namco x Capcom so fondly, but while it is fun and full of heart, Sogno di Volare is just wow. I'm suckered into feeling emotions and I'm not even mad.

Fateful Confrontation is strong and fun, expected fare for a Falcom song, imo. But, I honestly prefer the slow and strong build up in the Undying Shores. In the end, it feels more satisfying and earned, like I've gone on a journey. I legitimately did not even notice the length of this song once.

As usual, I enjoyed all six songs. Some just stick more than others.

oh i forgot one thing I had been planning to say in my writeup about sogno di volare this whole time, it reminds me of THIS ENYA SONG that i really like A LOT:

for pretty much the same reasons, odd phrasing (well actual mixed meter/odd time in the enya example) but still having a constant pulse. sorta dramatic harmonized vocals that feel like they are about a GRAND ADVENTURE and make me picture flying over a globe... similar forceful unpredictable-BUT-simple steady rhythm patterns on the vocals too. and it is just very pretty : )

i like this song and basically find it to have a very similar feel and if you like sogno maybe you will like it too : ) or maybe you will hate it : (

MATCH 1

Id (Purpose) feels like the kind of song I want Sogno di Volare to be. Good dramatic melody and chord progression.

I actually think GTR Attack is pretty cool as well! I can dig the FM synth sound in Sega Genesis music. My favorite part's the synth guitar intro. I think it's a neat, energetic introduction to the song. Id (Purpose) is the clear pick here, but I'd take GTR Attack over some of the weaker songs for today. My favorite Genesis soundtrack is probably Thunder Force IV and while its best songs definitely outclass GTR Attack, I like it.

MATCH 2

Brave New World has this nice early 2000's anime sound to it. It doesn't have the greatest melody, but it's good enough for this match. I feel like it's kind of similar to Face of Fact, but I think that song is way better than Brave New World. I guess it's an interesting comparison though of how two similar sounding songs can have very different reactions from me.

I did say in the Id (Purpose) writeup that it's what I want Sogno di Voltare to sound like, but this song isn't bad itself. I can say pretty much the same thing about this song that I did about Id (Purpose), but just on a lesser scale. It's pretty close with Brave New World, but I'm feeling Brave New World more.

MATCH 3

Fateful Confrontation is probably my second favorite Trails in the Sky (that is, FC + SC, not the series) song behind Merciless Savior. Super catchy and high-energy all around!

I'm a bit mixed on The Undying Shores. I like the peaks of this song, but there are some lulls that aren't as enjoyable. And even still, some of the softer parts have some nice melodic lines like at 4:09. Fateful Confrontation is a no-brainer for me here, but it's harder to compare The Undying Shores to some of the other songs up today.

Overall pretty solid day and I like all of the songs. Brave New World has vocals that are exactly my style and is surprisingly good. Very neat atmosphere at least for me. Also a big fan of The Undying Shores.
