They really bungled the whole vaccine thing.

Should've easily been able to go "At 50% vaccinated, eased mask restrictions determined at the time of hitting 50%. Then at 75%, no masks inside"

Should've been able to get the numbers. But now you got people acting like "Vaccinated people can go without masks? No masks for me then, i ain't putting that government tracking chip in me!"

I'm not speaking against the vaccine or anything, it just hurts to see how bad the messaging was

yeah but thats water under the bridge, literally every country with a couple exceptions handled the pandemic easily with minimal loss of human life. Even in China where it supposedly originated they opened back up last year BEFORE the vaccine!!!

So let's see, they've tried to incentivize the vax with sugary treats, lottery winnings, gift cards, petty cash, promises of giving your rights back and dating app boosts. What else they got up their sleeves?

You are completely misunderstanding the hesitancy. Yes, there are some people who just won't take it because they recently had covid, and some who have health concerns, but overwhelmingly our government and institutions failed failed so many people that there is no institutional trust in either the governments actually possibly having altruistic motives (particularly minorities are hesitant to get the vaccine), or the medical community to be anything but parasites trying to make a buck. Does not help that they made a big vaccine spokesperson the non-medical doctor Bill Gates, who is widely recognized as a man with bad intentions who is a fan of eugenics. It is why even "offering free stuff" does not help - many who are hesitant don't need a toy or a prize to be interested, and the government being so desperate to offer free stuff only makes them more suspicious of their motivations. We can't continually be a country that treats its people like shit, has no social safety net, the largest prison population, has a history of experimenting on the poor and minority population, introducing drugs purposefully into those communities, etc etc and expect people to have institutional trust. So yes, many young and healthy people are absolutely not gonna take their chances on trusting them and that problem can only be fixed by our government just fundamentally changing how it treats its citizens to regain trust.

and where did I said anything about the government being effective/ineffective? I said people, particularly those who are minorities, do not think the government could be pushing something for altruistic reasons. it is a problem with institutional trust that the actions of the government have directly caused. obviously, you can see that vaccines have been effective at slowing the spread of covid, but there are very few people who are not taking the vaccine because they think the vaccine is ineffective at preventing covid.

I mean the issue I see with people not taking the vaccine is that they are incredibly inconsistent in their thought process, it's baffling, their actions don't even reflect their words either, they talk about being afraid to put something into their body that could MAYBE have negative long term side effect because they don't trust the government, all that while smoking a cigarette lol

the hesitancy is coming from 100% conspiracy bullshit. it is not rooted in any evidence or facts.

there is no way to "address" it in the future because people like you have already made up your minds and no amount of additional evidence is going to persuade you. when you have anti-vax morons going around saying things like "i dont believe in science [that contradicts my beliefs]" or "i dont trust peer reviewed scientific journals [that contradict my beliefs]", what else can we possibly do to persuade you with logic and reason?

that's why the government has resorted to things like giving away lottery tickets (which works, lmao).

so to give you a chance, what could be presented to you that would possibly change your mind?

We're at a point where it's just the MAGAs/antivaxxers who are at risk and IDGAF anymore.

And yes, I'm aware that those with compromised immune systems are still at risk but they always will be since we can't achieve herd immunity thanks to those I mentioned.
