I think there are many things I tell myself I need to do that I don't care about, or don't want to do. How do you feel about compromising on things like that? Where do those choices fit in? Exercise is an obvious example

Prioritize. What is your most immediate need? Do that first then move on. Trying to do too many things at once also will hinder you. Set a goal, focus hard and do it.

You dont care now but once you start to see positive progress youll want to keep going. Just got to the get the ball rolling.

That's why I don't do it

I had reasons to be spiteful against the world. So I found myself channeling those feelings of spite into motivation to do a little better for myself every day. You have to find something that can motivate you and it doesn't matter where that energy comes from, you just have to find it and harness it into something more.

You can be great. You can pull yourself up and get to a better place even if you have to drag yourself through miles upon miles of suffering you just have to keep a goal in mind. Some days you'll only be able to take a few steps forward, but if you do, you've won for the day.

Just keep moving forward.

Some good advice in this post. You have to find what motivates you. Some people respond to positive reinforcement, some respond to negative emotion. Im someone whos always responded best to negatives like someone saying I cant do something or breaking up with my girlfriend. I hate to say it but spite gets me insanely motivated. Sometimes I create narratives in my head just to keep myself motivated. Things like my boss fucking me over or just little stupid shit that I know isnt completely true but I just use it as fuel.

I suffer from some crippling anxiety and paranoia, and it's ruined my life. I was in a pretty emotionally abusive relationship for years, and I feel completely robbed of my young adult life. I feel like a complete and utter failure, I have pretty much zero confidence left and I don't feel like things can get better.

Koga pls
There's this part of me that wants to move to where you live and force you to socialize with people under gunpoint
They'd be more interested the stranger with a gun than anything I'd have to say.

Not really I'm 30 now and single while my other friends are all married or engaged. Spent the last few years working on getting my finances in order so the only thing I really have going for me is my finances.

No debt, positive net worth and plenty of savings. My only regret is not saving and investing sooner.

Yeah. Hitting rock bottom forced me to turn my life around and make some drastic yet positive changes. There's no way where else to go but up from that point. Now I'm happier, healthier, and more stable than I've ever been in my life.

Yeah because that totally wouldn't create more problems

Being more or less forced to socialize helped the hell out of me. Basically ig I had it my way it would be just my best friend and myself hanging out but he liked to party. So my options where be alone socialize. I went alone for awhile but got bored and lonely. Then met this girl who wouldn't quit pestering me until I started to talk to her. She admited she had an annoying habit of trying to force shy people to open up

Volunteering and viewing other groups of people's perspectives really helped ground my wandering train of thought.

Also give this a go.

The bonus to volunteering is you almost certainly won't get denied.

Sure. When I dropped out of college, it felt like my life was over. I wasted several years of my life and got a stupid amount of debt. Now I have a bunch of knowledge that I would like to use but can't with a degree. Anything I try to do it feels like I will be judged with the stigma I carry. For a time I wasn't even able to talk to people for a while.
