One of my roommates hasn't worked since like 3/14/20 and his UE benefits have been $1200 a week since then. TWELVE HUNDERD A WEEK. He literally loses money by getting a new job. Thats almost five grand a month. Think about that. This shit needs to stop. I mean I'm happy he has stacked fuck tons of money, but it's ridiculous.

The unemployment does more for the economy than stimulus does. Most of these people were paycheck to paycheck types who don't save it, they go out and spend it. Makes the economy go round.

Minimum wage in NYC is now $15 and a McChicken costs $2.49-$3 nowadays. They used to be $1 till like 2015. Meanwhile, there was a topic a month or two ago here with tons of people talking about still having them for $1 all over the country.

A full sandwich meal comes out to like $18-$20 out here.

It costs about that much in Louisiana where minimum wage is like $7.25.

I just checked and it's $1.29 at one in Baton Rouge and $1.39 in New Orleans. Checked the ones me and friends used to go to for $1, which is in the hood, and it's $2.39 and $2.49.

The only way to get through to the CEOs is to boycott the entire industry until theyre losing money. Then force them to take home less money and pay the workers $20/hr starting pay.

Or just rejuvenate the workforce and provide enough jobs so people in their 40s werent having to work there.

What CEOs? Most fast food is franchised with pretty low profit margins. You'll have to change up the entire franchise model to get those millionaire CEOs to get involved at the franchise level. Agreements would have to be completely changed.

Do some outside research. CEOs pay has increased astronomically over the past decade or so (its like 300%) while employee pay has raised like 13%. You seriously believe these places are operating on razor thin margins? It doesnt take a CIA data analyst to find out thats not true. Kroger trotted out that lie a week or so ago and was promptly Rekt by the internet.

Not denying the possibility of what you're suggesting, but according to google, NYC's minimum wage was like $11 in 2016. They've tripled their prices after minimum wage went up by ~35%?
Doesn't add up, I think they're just charging what the market will bear, like usual. Probably either new management or they only just recently decided to recalculate what prices people will tolerate

The plan started in 2014 from $7.25 to $15. Prices started rising over the years and at $15, have reached about double or more.

workers making 12-15$ an hour around here. i'd say prices are about 20-30% more. but not anywhere close to 15$ quarter pounder meal. maybe 9-10$.

Right now in PA you have to make more than $15 an hour to justify working instead of collecting unemployment. Since the vast majority of jobs arent paying that, nobody is working.

People may be seriously overestimating CEO pay if they believe it will make a significant impact on employee pay.

if he was getting $900/wk from regular unemployment that means he had to have been making about $1200/wk at his job anyway
