Its almost like theyre so unfulfilled with their lives that they have to go out of their way to justify not going to school. If you didnt go to college and you become successful, thats awesome! But those kinds of people arent the ones wasting their time posting these memes so that they can make themselves feel better about their life decisions.

He isn't wrong, but he also doesn't understand at all why that is true. A bachelors degree does nothing to prove intelligence, it is more an indicator of commitment than anything else. Corporate jobs want someone reliable which is why they generally favor people with degrees.

I really should have clarified where I was going with this topic lol. I actually dont disagree with Elon Musk here at all, and this topic wasnt going after what he posted on twitter.

What I was getting at is the people ranting about colleges or posting these memes/ screenshots on their social media are always the ones that you know (or knew) in person who arent/werent exactly bright academically or versed in real world events past and present, arent philosophically enlightened, etc.

Hes not the genius that he wants everyone to think he is (hes a rich person with connected parents who hired smart people to make his inventions), but hes got a point.

I know people who dont understand basic grammar rules who have degrees and it doesnt make them any smarter than they were before college. It doesnt make them smarter than a person without a degree, either. Most college degrees in this day and age are basically participation trophies. Expensive participation trophies.

Can you not read? The post you quoted me on literally answers your question. This topic has nothing to do with Elon Musk as a person or the validity of what he posted on twitter (I literally said I agreed with what he posted).

I saw a friend on facebook share his tweet on facebook, and that person is in fact quite dumb. Thats all I was getting at. Intelligent people, whether they went to college or didnt, usually dont feel the need to justify their professional decisions post-high school on their social media chains.
