He's so rewarding to play as opposed to a lot of the DLC characters that are super braindead (sup Mythra/Pyra).

Sidenote does anyone have any advice for the Sephiroth vs Hero matchup because that is where I do BY FAR the worst. I know the general advice is don't let them sit in menus but it's hard when EVERYTHING HE FUCKING DOES knocks me off stage and then they can just sit and RNG me to death.

I hate Hero, btw.

Also, Sephiroth is mostly a zoner so when fighting Hero you just need to have immaculate defense because you can't rush him down like other characters can. Slow and steady, use a lot of walking so you can always put your shield up, pressure him with side B and use those openings to punish his shielding

Yeah my defense is not optimal. When you add in lol online it's so fucking hard for me to fight that character.

And fuck off mythra harder than Sephiroth you literally have to do zero reading you have the speed to react to anything. Get them to like above 60 and then switch to pyra and hit buttons.

I typically find Hero's best exploited with bait & punish tactics. His best defensive option tends to be Zap, which eats through MP quickly. One-winged can bait that and Kafrizz out super easily with an extra jump, otherwise I just find trying to land with nair (or grab if it's a turtling Hero) rather than poke with bair or fair since most of Hero's spells cover that same angle, but better. Hero can't really swing and beat Sephiroth in any way, so he's gotta use specials. Theoretically, Shadow Flare would also take away their ability to properly read and make them go pure RNG, but I'm both not good enough and don't fight good enough Heroes to have any practical experience with that.

And idk I feel like sephiroth is a really flow chart style character which is why I stopped playing him as much. Mythra is a lot more open with what she can do which is why I said she was harder. But Im sure that watching a really good Seph like I'm sure Nairo's is would open my eyes a bit

Yeah I actually get kind of annoyed at how flow charty Seph has to be because his frame data isn't good enough to do a lot of reaction combos. And most are two hitters.

those were interesting clips. his edgeguarding is definitely really impressive. i've never seen anyone use the neutral B to edgeguard against the stage like that though it seems so obvious in hindsight. it doesnt really show how he plays in neutral though so idk how to analyze the whole zoning vs rushdown thing yet

hmmm...idk your pretty good for what i assume your dedication level to be. you understand spacing and pacing well. i would say that you get too eager sometimes and ruin your position because you think you have the upper hand when you dont. learning the exact amount of time you have to punish things is pretty difficult, so...id say just exercise more caution when you are giving up your safety

My dedication level would love to be much higher. I'm so far away from any locals so playing in tournaments is like... it's tough, even without Covid. I'd like to stream too but it's a long way off. Maybe some day.
