Do you think that would be a preferable outcome?

He is the one that entered her house and caused the destruction to her residence. This has happened numerous times throughout history. If the police did nothing to damage the residence and the suspect damaged the interior of the residence but also died, who do you think would pay for it?

Incorrect. He did enter the house, but he did not cause the destruction.

That would be a rather different situation and likely either no one would due to the deceased not having assets to cover it or home insurance if the person had a policy that covers such things.

the only reason theyre not paying now is because the government caused the damage

I've heard a story like this before. The cops kicked in the wrong apartment door. The tenant's renter insurance wouldn't pay. the city wouldn't pay. Property management company forced tenant to pay to repair the frame/door or threatened eviction.

Department/city/county/etc. accountability for collateral damage would reign in aggressive policing far more effectively than some "defund" movement.

wouldn't this accountability program require funding that has to come from somewhere?

like say, policing, which accounts for >75% of most local governments' budgets?

Prior to the SWAT showdown, Baker's daughter, Deanna, gave officers a key to the home, as well as a garage door opener and the back gate code. Agents took a different route. They smashed six windows. Instead of using the code, they maneuvered a BearCat armored vehicle through her fencing. Instead of using the clicker, they detonated explosives to blow off the garage entryway. And instead of using the key, they drove right on through her front door.

they just wanted to have fun. There is a reason they get into this kind of job and its so they can use their toys and go like thing goes boom! Lol lol lol. Using the home keys, clicker, etc would get in the way of their fun
