It was the only 4 year school I applied to and I got in. However, I was probably the only student there for school (nearly everyone goes there because of the football team). I would have applied at other 4 year schools in my area, but Ohio State has a monopoly on public 4 year schools in Columbus. Wherever you choose to go, go with the school offering the best financial package -unless there's a superstar professor you just want to work with - but again, the money will become an issue when you graduate. Also, there is no "Ark of the Covenant" containing special knowledge that is only available at one school, but not another. Take fellowships over loans and ask how long the average student takes to get through the program. Some professors are only interested in grad students who will grade papers and run sections for them.. Switched him out. I am a historian/international relations guy by training. I don't know physics. But I know professors and grad school.
