Current Events > In 2021 I might lose an opportunity due to marijuana use.

So I have 3 job offers with 3 separate companies, the one I most want screens for marijuana use. The job location is Washington state where both recreational and medical use of marijuana is permitted. Personally I should have done more research prior to applying as I assumed they did not test, as the other two companies do not and perform the same functions.

I did some research on the subject and found out that during the 80s the federal government mandated drug testing for many federal positions as part of the war on drugs, which in turn inspired many private companies to begin testing.

What are your thoughts on testing for marijuana and the 30 day window? Do you believe it is sensible for specific positions or not at all?

The location is ideal and I just really clicked with my prospective supervisor during the interview. Also the position is considerably higher up on the "food chain" or ladder than one offer of employment. I have a separate offer that would be beneficial to my resume in management and comparable as well but it requires an unacceptable amount of hours, as in enough to constitute two full time jobs.

Sucks

I mean, you can stick it out until the end that and say I dont even know what marijuana is, sorry - I dont take out loans

or tell them youre sorry and that you smoked weed prior but trying to have it flushed out within a matter of a month is impossible and youd like to see both parties find an acceptable resolution

or just run like a mother until youre practically sweating out the weed >_>

Unfortunately from the research I've done the excercise thing is actually a way to fail because the body stores THC in fat cells, so it is released as the cells are burned and metabolized by the body into the makeup the test seeks to detect. It's actually advised to not exercise before a drug test because of this. Thank you for trying to help, though!

Depending on a few things (body fat content, amount smoked/ingested, and length of time you've been using since you last quit) you might be able to pass.

I'm a really skinny dude and dont smoke much, so Im usually clean within 4-5 days after I stop.

I have good reason to believe the testing site observes collection. Thanks for the second piece of advice. I tend to over hydrate before drug tests anyways because it's ten times harder for me to urinate in front of anyone.

I will have around 5 days clean prior to actually testing. I am skinny fat I guess. My body has fat on it, I'm 5'10" and around 160lbs now.

Okay, you're not that far off from me; I'm 5'10" and 145. I'd reccomend working out hard for the next 2 days, drink lots of water the whole time (try to pee at least 8 times a day for all 5) and be a heck of a couch potato for the last 3 days. On the day of the test make sure to pee twice before going in.

It may not work, but other than one of those detox drinks thays probably your best bet.

It's easy to just use a wizzinator, I think it's bad because a lot of people can't afford that solution but it's not hard to dodge on an individual level. I've never had a hair test

ive passed tests 4 days after with cranberry juice and heavy exercise for one day followed by 3 days of vegging

If they use Quest Diagnostic, chances are they dont observe. I've never been observed using them. But if they use another method then it's possible.

The dilute method works the test may come back negative dilute, but in those situations it's possible the company wont even test you again. That's what happened with me at my current job.

I wasn't a heavy weed smoker though, had only done half of a blunt 11 days prior to testing. Was coming up positive on a at home test the day before but after drinking gallons of water and a lot of gatorade. After I took the test it was negative dilute

Yeah the detox drinks seem to have mixed reviews but it's better than nothing. I'm going to follow your advice though, thanks for the info dude.

You definitely had more time than me, but I'm going to dilute as much as possible. I've been drinking tons of water over the past few days, at one point my kidneys were hurting so I stopped.
