They've just finished Disc 2, and there's 8 hours of podcast content so far.
The game has grown on me, but I never really had an issue with the story, I always felt the game was mechanically bad.

I'd @ Sniper because I think he'd be interested but he hasn't posted recently.

There's a good argument for how the story could be improved to not be a convoluted mess in their disk 2 discussion, but basically, The whole orphanage plot would have made much more sense if it were better expressed that Irvine has never forgotten about the Orphanage and his failure to kill Edea at the end of Disk 1 was because he couldn't kill his mother figure.

Also no matter what Rinoa is obnoxious.

8 is just broken though, like they didnt even finish it

6, 7, 9, and 10 dont have that problem

and I know they made a lot of money off of strategy guides back then but there are so many things in the game like GFs that are missable if you dont know exactly what youre doing.

and dont even get me started on how awful chocobo catching is compared to 7

FFX actually has some replay value unlike many modern games.
The fact that it's linear doesn't impact it much as the ESG allows for replayability.

Oh were you the one who really liked FFVIII? I thought that was Sniper.
The podcast is a really good listen. It goes into a lot of things that I did not know before, and I've finished the game at least 5 times over the years.

Replay value is generally at the bottom of my list for what makes a good game
