The issue is that I'm overweight and so it isn't possible for people to like me in my current state. And I don't want to harass or bother people unless it becomes possible they could actually want to date me.

Plus I've heard horror stories about dating apps, so I can't imagine an overweight guy having anything but a bad time on there.

My first priority is to never be a creep, my second priority is to get a date. So long as I'm fat enough, you really can't flirt or hit on girls at all without risking violating rule 1.

I really really wish I could date though, I'm lonely af.

Find a hobby that you're really passionate about. Preferably one you can publicly share that isn't crazy common. People love passion.

If you draw, do poetry, video edit, write comedy, sword fight, research plants, whatever it is someone will dig that. Dive into your hobby deep and try to try fulfillment out of that, then others who enjoy that aspect of you will want to hang out with you.

Also asking someone out won't make them uncomfortable as long as you don't make it uncomfortable.
"Hey, I think you're a great person. Would you like to go out on a date this weekend? "
No one who isn't a terrible person would dislike that.

plenty of overweight people are in relationships. Thats not an excuse unless youre morbidly obese.

I am working on it, I've lost weight in the past, but never gotten to a low enough weight where i was good enough.

I am diagnosed with chronic severe depression and so losing weight is really hard.

As somebody with my depression issue I don't think I've ever been happy with myself, even after I've worked hard and accomplished a lot.
