My favourite run was with Watcher. I had the colourful prism which let me get other characters cards. I ended up getting Whirlwind and that potion X thing so when I entered wrath I did massive damage (had a few energy relics too).

Eh, my philosophy is that if you play it safe in act 1, you die in act 3.

eh, that's not really my problem, I always tend to aim for at least 2 elites in act 1, and often do 3 or 4 if I've got the health/deck to do it.

the most bonkers damage i've done with watcher is via conjure blade combined with divine stance and a deva form. Conjure blade is one of the two method's i've killed transient with (the other being poison stacking)

Still, i'd love to have glass knife on watcher. I'm pretty sure Glass knife is the best value single target damage card in the game.

Whats the best card for each character? Im talking overall, not something that needs a Relic or another card combo to be top-tier. For example, I dont see why anyone wouldnt want to pick up that one card that updates all cards in your deck.

What are the must have cards to look for?

Most cards are only especially good when combined with other cards. Slay the Spire is all about Synergy.

I get that. I guess what I mean is that there are some cards that are only great with other cards. There are some Cards great on their own or work well with a lot of cards. What are those? What are the cards that are always Must Picks, despite having to hope for cards to help it. What cards are good on their own, and even better with synergy

I'll just go over Ironclad cards for now:

Attacks: Immolate, Hemokinesis, Feed, Cleave
Skills: Rage, Flame Barrier, Battle Trance, Disarm, Armaments
Power: Metalize, Inflame, Berserk

I've found all of these cards to be very reliable additions to most decks. Though some of them are way better when upgraded.

Rage is basically free block in attack-heavy decks, which is going to be a lot of them.

Berserk costs zero and grants extra energy for every turn after you use it. It's risky, yeah, but the upgraded version is really really good, especially if you draw it when the enemy isn't attacking.

upgraded version is nice, I will admit. if it always automatically came upgraded I think it would be more reaonable but it basically clogs an upgrade slot guaranteed since there are just too many fights where playing an unupgraded one just kills you (which is especially bad when those are the harder fights where you'd most want the extra energy)

rage though is like... even in best cases it's probably no more than 9 block. which I guess is good for 0 energy but keep in mind it's also potentially useless or near useless depending on your hand and what else you want to play that turn. ironclad's got great other block sources, some of which are also "free" block (metalicize, feel no pain) that just feel way better than rage to me. maybe if you're just overflowing in card draw it will work but other than that I'm really ehhh on it

I imagine that most of you guys don't know this, but Necronomicurse has a special property where it will return to your hand whenever it is exhausted, meaning that with Blue Candle it can be exhausted an infinite number of times, as long as you still have health. That means with Dead Branch you can generate an absurd number of random cards, and with Self-Forming Clay you'll get a lot of block.

I had tons of other exhaust-related cards as well as Feel No Pain, so I was able to get really reliable block. And Ink Bottle helped me to draw cards and deal with my bloated deck.

blue candle costs a hp though, so you'd kill yourself if you overused it. Unless you have tungsten rod, which I don't see

I also had Reaper, which combined with Necronomicon let me heal a bunch in several fights.

And Self-Forming Clay was doing a lot of heavy lifting.

i hate that fucking Elite boss in the first floor. 3 of them show up, spam your deck with junk, and take forever to die.

I got the relic that lets you play the junk and the thing where every time you play a card every enemy takes 1 damage and it was amazing.

Rage is awesome in the right deck, awful otherwise. Decks that can spam a lot of cheap attacks make a good deal out of rage, and if nothing else it's a free 15 block if you have three attacks. Has to be upgraded to be really good though. Funny enough, rage basically explodes in usefulness if gotten for any other class.

Also, Corruption sucks if you don't already have a way to exploit exhaust and a way to refill skills.

this is very fun with the relic that deals damage when you exhaust cards, I had that combo exactly once and it was amazing

for the sentries elite fight in a1, kill one of the outside ones first. this makes the rest of the fight easier since then they're attacking for 9 every turn instead of alternating 0 and 18

all your skills becoming free is enough of an upside, and ironclad has a lot of exhaust synergy available so you'll probably stumble into something, at least. and even if you don't it's still good. like, some skills are made better just by the exhaust part before you even look at the cost part

Ninja or Sniper? Which Tower do you like better? I like Sniper a lot, but Ninja is right up there for me.

On topic, I still haven't beat the game since I did it in that video, which was very unexpected, lol. I only recorded it to show how terrible the game is to me, and how much it cheats, but then I won. It knew! I always knew!

Anyways, just wanted to give you a free bump.
