It is curious that when we fucked around in Southeast Asia, a narcotic originating there floods the streets. What I know of the situation comes from Lindsey Ellis's video about RENT. Pretty solid cliff notes version if nothing else, with an entertainingly critical take on RENT sandwiched between it. The part where she juxtaposed the glitzy, shallow dancing of RENT with a guy from the CDC going "it's a PLAGUE! it's a FUCKING PLAGUE!" was pretty amazing. And she points out that the word passed down to the CDC from Reagan was "look pretty and do as little as possible". --- I can feel it in my bones, I'm gonna spend another year alone.
