The color scheme in the OG were gnarlier for these characters tho - ones in OP are definitely scary though and cooler looking

I was 13 when it came out, so it wasn't really that scary to me then.

I was terrified of the zombie town when you become Adult Link. I used to have my big brother run through it for me so I could play out in the overworld lol

I was like 7 or 8 when I first played it. The Forest Temple freaked me out a lot.

The only scary part were the re-deads, and that was more due to their unavoidable mechanics.

the game did have an eerie mood sometimes, sort of like the original super Mario bros.

the first time you think of a world with floating bricks, oversized fungus that can bite you, evil turtles, etc, you think its pretty eerie.

both SMB1 and OoT didnt consciously try to go for a specific art style, they did whatever the system they were released on could do. This means nintendo didnt feel the need to tone down or make anything kid friendly because they felt the graphics are too basic for making things not kid friendly.

to continue the strange parallel, their sequels (SMB2 lost levels/SMB2 Japan and Zelda MM) looked the same, and the sequel after that had Nintendo butt in and decide to make things kid-friendly, this is why now you got cutesy enemies in smb3, childish kooks kids, cutesy raccoon suits and all of wind walkers childishness

Re-deads absolutely horrified me as a kid and I remember I even stopped playing for awhile because I was that scared >_>

What a weird flip to the OoT world lol definitely the opposite of what you see when you hear something like the Kakariko Village theme

As a kid, I found the well and the spirit temple pretty creepy, but I don't know if "scary" is quite the right word.

That said, I could definitely see people being freaked out by them.

I streamed a couple of days ago :D I did Persona 4 Golden. I'm going to stream more tomorrow

Ah. I should check that out then. I'm actually not that familiar with the Persona games. I bought 5 last year and only played a couple of hours. I need to get myself back into it.

Id say intriguing at times, but not scary. Forest Temple activated some crazy sense of wonder in me as a kid, like how Parasite Eve did as a whole, and Shadow Temple felt like a dope adventure dungeon even though it was basically Nintendo Gitmo...

yeah!! I'll probably start some other games also since Persona 4 is so long. OoT would be a fun one to start. You should play more of P5, it's such a cool game!

Oh I plan to get around to it eventually. I accidently bugged myself out on the game. I always like to check out the trophy list to see if there are any missable things in the game. I came across this detailed "do exactly this in this order to get everything in one playthrough" list.

Considering P5 is suppose to be this really long game, I didn't want to play it multiple times. The list kinda overwhelmed me and put me off from the game. Silly reason but there it is.

I just bought Streets of Rage 4 so I won't be going back to P5 for awhile. Lol
