If I lived in the US I'd be dead or saddled with lifelong crippling debt due to a medical condition I had no control over. Not too mention broken bones and other injuries.

Pretty happy being canadian tbh.

From what I've heard Australia is suffering from quite a bit of conservative backlash themselves right now. That plus stuff like the recent wildfires, it's not really much of an upgrade from the US especially when it's a longer move than than the other two. Still better medicare and job security but that's pretty much every other developed country.

The main reasons for me would be healthcare (inequity, cost, access, association with employment) and the broken political system (awful voting/electoral system, excessive influence of money, a 2 house system that stalls meaningful political reforms).
And the current intersection of both of those things when the country is getting rekt by a pandemic that a lot of countries around the world have figured out how to control.

Other countries definitely haven't figured out how to control it either, it's just really bad in the US for obvious reasons.

The only places that have it under control are small island countries in Oceania.

Australia isn't really "small". Heck, it's debatable if New Zealand counts as "small" for that matter. And Taiwan isn't in Oceania.

Your statement is not consistent with reality. There are several countries that aren't "small island countries" that have achieved and maintained elimination without a vaccine. Their methods are similar and they are not some kind of secret trick. Likewise, there are "small island countries" like the UK who have been devastated.

We do but it's boring conservative. Typical idiot who doesn't care about the environment, puts big business as the highest priority and constantly trying to blame the poor and refugees. Nothing as bad as Trump. At least our politicians have actually managed to take COVID seriously.

Considering how much shit the US has to go through I'd say it's a pretty big step up living here. Especially at the moment. While we had the bushfires last year (although keep in mind the cities mostly had to deal with smoke) America certainly attempted to overtake that with COVID, race riots and an attempted insurrection.

Biggest thing is I can go to a restaurant right now and not really worry about the pandemic. Not many people on the planet can say that.

What does the US lead the world in besides military power, prison population, and nominal GDP? Unless those are your criterion for best, I don't see why you would conclude the US is the best. I have no desire to ever move back there. It's incredibly backwards in so many ways, not to mention the violence.

Cost of living is rapidly rising, wages are eternally stagnant, the job market is flimsy at best and welfare programs are bare bones as can be. The income gap is ever expanding with no end in sight. We have a health care system that most people you tell about in first world countries dont actually believe you about regarding its costs.
