My coworker is a man, and self identifies as a woman.

Ok, cool, doesn't matter to me in the slightest. Good for you.

But what does bother me is when you tell me that, (Last chance to back out. Seriously.), You eat your own semen because your body turns it into estrogen. That made me look at them and say, "What the fuck? Why would you tell me that? Why would you tell ANYONE that?"

I listened for 3 seconds in case they were joking, but they just tried to explain the science of it to me. I walked away.

I'd actually dive head first into that conversation. It's not like I'm ever gonna get the chance to question someone that does that ever again. First question, is it an acquired taste? Conversations for me are all about entertainment and information. I don't really stray away from any conversation.

The rest of what you're saying is gross, sure. But your outlook on this is primarily influenced by how you view them, and I'm not that sympathetic to your plight when that outlook is "they're a man who calls themselves a woman".

Assuming this really happened, that is a really inappropriate thing to say at work and I sympathize with the idea of hearing something deeply inappropriate and uncomfortable. But I haven't known trans-averse people on CE to be reasonable or necessarily acting in good faith in regards to topics about trans people, so I don't know if I should take you at face value. But that's just me.

I'm not a transphobe. I do not care in the slightest how you chose to live your life. If you are happy, and it doesn't hurt anyone, that's great. Really, it is.

But here's the thing, if I had not given context it would have sounded like this.

My coworker told me she eats her own semen to help with estrogen production.

Do you see how strange that sounds? Because not only can women not ejaculate in the same way that a man can, they also can't produce semen, and a woman's body naturally produces estrogen. And yes, I know a man's body does as well, but it's not even comparable to the amount a woman's makes.

Do you see why that context is important? They haven't transitioned or anything, they are just self identifying. It was important to put this information out there because it is directly related to the topic. It's not like we were discussing the weather and I brought it up.
