So many egregious examples but I just saw this bit

Hitsugaya: "I'll be blunt. Vasto Lordes are more powerful than Shinigami captains. If Aizen has more than 10 of them, it is the end of soul society."
Aizen:*reveals 20 Vasto Lordes with Arrancar powers on top*

Then later, the very first actual fight we see with an Arrancar, Rukia beats the guy in literally one lazy move. What the fuck Bleach?

There were not 20 Vasto Lordes. In canon there weren't any confirmed or even implied. Harribel was shown in filler as one.

I don't think there's a single Vasto Lorde in the series, except maybe 2. Arrancars and Vasto Lordes are different.
IIRC, the one Rukia Killed was the lowest in the power scaling. Menos Grande?

Anyway, the power scaling is trash, mainly because everyone can pull infinite shit out of their asses.

Oooooh. So the explanation given by Hitsugaya was that Vasto lordes have humanoid form. I took that to mean that Aizens arrancar gang were all vasto lordes, since they were all humanoid.

iirc, Vasto Lordes have a humanoid form prior to becoming an Arrancar. Arrancar always have a human form whether they were previously a Vasto Lordes or not.

I mean it's not perfect but at least the people who were set up as the biggest powers at the start of the series have remained consistently so. If this was Bleach, Luffy would have reached Admiral level in the first 60 episodes and then reached Emperor level at episode 200 or something, and Oda would have had to invent and retcon some ridiculously powerful hidden world-ending group into the story somehow. Like, "so there's this group called X who can oneshot Emperors, they've just been hiding until now..."

I think there were only like three total and they were all pretty strong, so probably wouldn't have been a wrong assumption.
