I always wondered on this but have arrived on this theory.
It's because the internet (at least on active communities) is mostly dominated by introverts and introverts are more likely to own a cat and therefore, cats are the ones dominating the internet's interest. any other perspectives? ... Copied to Clipboard!

Because cats have a natural instinct to perform in front of a camera. Some of those cats have probably been rehearsing for weeks, working through endless rewrites to get that perfect clip.
