Some dickweed with their buddies brake checked multiple times earlier today for literally no reason. Buddies in the back kept looking back and making gestures, but it was too dark to see what they were doing. When the road went to two lanes, they tried to get me to pass them while they rolled their windows down to do whatever.

Luckily I was turning a little after that, so I slowed to not pass them and then turned while they continued straight.

But seriously, fuck people that do that. Dangerous as fuck. Almost wish I plowed into the back of their car so we could get them for reckless driving or whatever.

I regularly do that to people who tailgate me when Im going exactly over the speed limit (or admittedly a little bit over).

They first braked when it went from 55 to 45 and I was far enough away to start slowing down to 45 easily, but they stayed at 35-40. Continued to brake check while I was roughly 1/2-1 car length away at various points.

I dont tailgate unless theyre going under the speed limit. I was literally driving with my foot over the brake. Even my buddy in the car thought they were being dicks.

Literally no traffic and clear roads/vision.

The only time I got near their bumper was when they braked. And as I said earlier, was riding with my foot over the brake as I was able to coast faster than they were driving 80% of the time.

I dont care if someone wants to just drive the speed limit. Do that all you want, I might want to go faster, but I wont push you to go over it and keep my anger to myself. But when youre driving below the speed limit, that is just as dangerous as driving faster than the flow of traffic. Also when youre doing it purposefully, youre being a dick.

Might have misjudged the length, Im bad with shit like that, but I wasnt tailgating. I wasnt on their ass unless they started to brake. Might have been up to 2 car lengths or whatever. I might have been close, but I wasnt tailgating. It wasnt bad conditions else I would have been farther.

I brake check people on city streets. If im going 50 or higher i just move aside and let the assholes pass. Its not worth it

Unless you have a dash cam it's more likely you'd have taken the bigger hit for following too closely to avoid an accident. They'd all get insurance payouts and your rates would skyrocket, and you'd be out a car.

There is a myth that the car in the rear is always at fault when they get into a crash with the vehicle that is in front of them. The reality is that either driver could be at fault. If you have a dash cam in your vehicle, for example, showing the authorities that the other vehicle was stopped suddenly and for no reason could be enough to have the other party held liable for the crash.

So no to whoever thought rear enders always lose. Mostly down to witnesses.

I mean driving slower than the flow of traffic is dangerous and thats what they were doing. If the weather was bad or visibility was bad, Id be driving slower too. Certainly wouldnt be upset with people driving slow. But conditions were perfect so driving up to 10 miles below the speed limit is dangerous. Especially when your passengers are gesturing at you and then you roll your windows down and try to get someone to pass you.

Literally never use my horn and it was the first time I ever honked at someone for being a dick.

My point has already been made a few times.

But yeah get a dash cam. It is totally worth it.

Dont cheap out. Get one for the front and back that is always recording (some even have motion activated recording when you are parked so you can catch people fucking with your parked car and the area around it)

Because you could always run into an insurance scammer that backs into you, or dives in front of your car. Having the peace of mind that you have that all recorded along with any other BS you may encounter is worth the investment.

This. It's not worth possibly injuring yourself, your passengers, the people in the other vehicle, or damaging either vehicle and having to exchange insurance info with someone you may have pissed off, calling the police and dealing with the rest of the aftermath just to fuck with a speedster. What if they have a dash cam and it records the incident? Then you're really fucked in multiple ways. Again not really worth it. IMO I just put on my turn signal and pull over if I'm dealing with jackass speedster riding my ass who won't or can't pass me after awhile.

I'd rather deal with a crash on my own terms than potentially get shoved into oncoming traffic because some asshole who should already be in prison was driving too close to stop in time.

Am I the only one who has been brake checked on a two lane highway with a 65mph limit then? At 8:00 in the morning, I let someone over. I proceeded to wave through the windshield saying it was alright for the merge.

And they brakechecked HARD, down to 30 mph. I was in disbelief. Then he refused to let me pass him in either lane, and light brake checked some more.

Of course at this point I was ready to beat this old redneck's ass, so he decided to speed away and take the next exit.

i hate slow drivers as much or even more than the next person. but im not going to tailgate because of it. leave 2 seconds of travel time between your vehicle and theres. dont go by car lengths. tailgaters and slow drivers alike are assholes and neither of them should be on the roads. stop pretending that two wrongs make a right and stop pretending that im "batting for assholes" when im against everyone involved including you

You shouldn't be tailgating anybody under any circumstance, ever. It doesn't matter if they were under the speed limit. You are just making things more dangerous for everybody involved for no reason. You were getting checked because you were tailgating. If you are on top of them when they brake, you are tailgating.

You were at fault here. Their own speed is completely irrelevant. Sorry.

both brake checking and tailgating are stupid and petty and reckless. people don't understand the magic of 'leave a few minutes earlier so you're not in any actual rush'. both actions introduce a dangerous and chaotic element to the road that shouldn't be there. don't use your vehicle to prove a point.

the road brings out the tininess in people, honestly. you can't control what other people do. be zen.

I once got into a car wreck where I was in the right lane (2-lane road) and people ahead were starting to break. I had a ton of space before the next driver and was starting to slow down. At the same time, in the left lane, a semi truck slammed on the brakes, causing 2 cars behind him to swerve into my lane while slamming on their breaks. I had no way of avoiding the second car and crashed into her.

She apologized like crazy and even told the cop it was her fault. I got the ticket for rear ending her.

That's not at all how that works. There are precious few situations where you will not be held at fault for rear ending someone.
