Got to a couple more, and starting Common's Be right now. Likin' it so far.

Cluster 71 by Cluster - This one was a bit too minimal for me, but I made it through. (If I were to listen to it on it's own, I'm not sure I would've though. It's just hard for me to stay engaged with something so sparse)

Dum and Dummer by Young Dolph and Key Glock - Gangster rap has never really been my thing, but this wasn't terrible. The bragging aspect so pervasive in the genre has just always grated on me, especially if there's not a lot of depth elsewhere.

Got through a few more. Might be done for today though.

Be by Common - I've heard a bit of Common before, but I don't know if I've ever listened to a full album. This was nice though, Common has always been incorporated social commentary into his stuff in such a natural way.

Nothing Lasts...but Nothing is Lost by Shpongle - I definitely listened to this album back in high school a couple times, but it's been so long I figure I might as well revisit it. Still works. Trippy, weird and bouncy; A bit long maybe, but it's a lot of fun either way.

Hung at Heart by The Growlers - Not really what I'd normally listen to, but I had a good time with this. It has a nice warm, hangout sort of vibe to it.

Unsurprisingly (based on their lyrics and image) The Growlers were caught up in all that shitty burger records stuff last year involving grooming underage girls and sexual assault, etc

two members of the band were kicked out and they put out a non-committal apology, but, not a great time to be pushing growlers music imo (whoever recd them)

Oof. Regret. :/

I ended up listening to a couple more.

Collapsed in Sunbeams by Arlo Parks- I really liked this one. Her sound is silky smooth and the lyrics are real vivid too.

Surrealistic Pillow by Jefferson Airplane- I've heard about half of this one over the years without really trying, but it IS a pretty phenomenal album, and it's well deserving of its rapturous acclaim.

Made it to a couple more; should be able to get through the second page today without too much trouble.

The College Dropout by Kanye West - I've always liked most of what I've heard from Kanye over the years, but his public persona had always dissuaded me out of listening to a full album. This was great though. Production is fantastic, and his sound in general is really unique.

Serious Leisure by Sam Cardon - Really struggled to find this one in full, so I had to just pick and choose songs on youtube. I probably wouldn't have made it through a full album anyway though; it's way too "easy listening" for me, but I can see definitely what you mean about the "90's office" sound. It seems right at home with those late 80s/early 90s sort of cheesy ballads, or just straight up hold music.

It'll be a bit yet before I'm able to get to it, but I did finish the second page now!

Book of Bad Decisions by Clutch- This was some pretty solid modern take on the "classic" rock sound. It doesn't really offer a whole lot of nuance, but it's perfectly servicable.

Cochin Moon by Haroumi Hosono- Very strange, very spacey stuff; Feels like drifting through another galaxy as these stars and other celestial bodies all give off their own sounds around you. Not something I'd listen to often, but it worked well as background ambience.

More Songs About Buildings and Food by Talking Heads - I decided to go ahead and listen to the whole album, since I should really listen to more Talking Heads anyway. There's not really anyone else who has the same sound, and I admire the way they're able to tackle difficult subjects in a fun, wildly imaginative way.

Magnolia Electric Co. by Songs: Ohia - Kinda reminds me of Neil Young, though the vocals are maybe a bit less "loose"? I'm not sure that's the right word for it. Leans in a bit too far into country western at certain points for my taste, but I thought it was relatively easy to listen to all the same.

Yeah - they were definitely big Neil Young fans. The lead singer/writer actually formed the band after he saw them playing in a bar doing a cover of Neil Young's Zuma album haha

Oh, I found it! I've got a long ways to get to that one yet. It's on the 4th page for me. Let's see here.

I don't hate it! Definitely gives off some poppy videogame vibes with the beat, though I kind of wish the vocals didn't get so buried in the background. It's not bad though, I'd give the whole album a listen once I make it to page 4 if you want. :)

Another update, only one left on the 3rd page now.

Light Information by Chad VanGaalen - Is this classfied as acid folk? Because that's what I feel like I want to label it. Anyway, I liked this one; I can't usually do straight folk, because I do lean more towards "sound" than lyrical content, but this has enough experimentation to keep things interesting.

Sorry by Meg Myers - @DarthAragorn Yeah, you're right, I can work with this. It's moody, dancey, and synth heavy, and the instrumentation is reminiscent of Nine Inch Nails. If I have any complaints, it's that some of the "bigger, bolder, poppier" sort of moments don't really land for me.

Mcluskyism by Mclusky - I'd heard a few songs from mclusky before and finally gave their stuff a full listen a few weeks before I'd made this topic. It's rock solid, wildly offensive (though tongue in cheek), abrasive stuff; I had a lot of fun with it.

Songs for Swinging Lovers by The Indelicates - Absolutely lovely. Kind of reminds me of Dresden Dolls at times, but with a bit less focus on melody. God, I loved the lyrics for the whole album, but Flesh most of all.

Last batch for the day I think.

Underneath the Pine by Toro y Moi - This was pretty neat too, it's like some funk infused dream pop. Would make for a nice atmosphere at a party or something similar.

Ugly is Beautiful by Oliver Tree - Very groovy and hook heavy; the production is awesome. Surprisingly cohesive for such a broad range of styles too. Not really what I'd normally listen to, but I did enjoy it a good amount.

1000 Gecs by 100 Gecs - Immediate thought was "oh god, the autotune". I didn't HATE it, but it does contain a lot of elements that I'd normally despise on their own. The inventiveness does help quite a bit though, reminds me of that new Dorian Electra album in a lot of ways.

Glad you enjoyed ugly is beautiful and 1000 gecs!

I really enjoy Oliver Tree, but the character himself is freaking annoying! He released UIB last summer as his debut, then immediately said he was going to retire. But since then he has plans to release an extended version of UIB, directed and starred in a music vid with Lil Yachty, and created a new character to play keyboard behind him.

And 100 Gecs are insane. It makes no sense how well their songs gel.

I'll go ahead and post an update, and I promise I'm not skipping Lexicon of Love! I'll still get to it.

Princess Catgirl by Cashmere Cat - First of all, YIKES at that album cover. Kinda reminds me of the poppier aspects of Grimes' stuff, which I don't necessarily LOVE, but it's not a bad album at all, and it was easy enough to listen through.

on the subject of Health's Blue Monday cover - Yeah, it's a pretty great cover. I remember seeing Atomic Blonde for my birthday back in 2017, and while it was relatively disappointing as a whole, the soundtrack and that spectacular stairway fight scene stand out as some real highlights.

Pretenders by Pretenders - Always really enjoyed Chrissie Hynde's voice. It gives off such an air of uninhibited confidence. I've heard a lot of these before, but this album has aged so gracefully; feels just as relevant today as it did back in 1980. Mystery Achievement is my favorite, but the whole thing is wonderful.

Crack the Skye by Mastodon - As I mentioned not too long ago, I love this album. It's probably Mastodon's best overall, when they were still doing these sprawling concept albums, and I've always found this to be the most polished and accessible.

I dont wanna jack the topic but that Vespertine album is amazing - I LOVED Pagan Poetry, I remember I watched the video for it awhile ago and Army of Me and always wanted to check out her music

Went with hers first and loved Hidden Place, Its Not Up To You, Sun in My Mouth, Frosti, Pagan Poetry, Unison, and Hierloom

Her voice and expressiveness is so cool tbh like she really weaves the entire tapestry of sound so well and can really duck in and out of it as well - its like she can get her voice to act like a small swirling smoke that surrounds the tracks

Thanks again, will probably check the rest of those out in due time :D
Nice, I'm glad you liked it! It really is an absolutely GORGEOUS album. (Most Bjork albums are, but Vespertine is immaculate) An Echo, A Stain and Frosti are my personal favorites, but I love them all so much.

Ooooh man Blue Sky Noise is one of my favorite and most listened to albums of all time I can't recommend it enough.

Ya man. I was gonna recommend Descensus because I think it's pretty solid, but that last tune really drags to an annoying degree

I remember listening to that Circa Survive album circa 2010, back when I was a big Mars Volta fan. I recall them having a nearly identical sound. I might give it a relisten though, it really has been a LONG time.

The Mars Volta is one of my favorite bands ever. I think Circa Survive lists TMV as an influence so that makes sense

Alright, this is it for the week I think.

The Lexicon of Love by ABC - Always in the mood for some of that new wave, 80s sound! This one's got a bit more of a theatrical take on the genre. Pretty solid.

Moon Rang Like a Bell by Hundred Waters - Very ethereal, haunting, and often beautiful. It's maybe a bit too minimal for me at times, but I enjoyed it overall, nonetheless.

Should I just listen to this one instead since I haven't heard it?
