This is hard, but I'mma go with Dragoon. Even though my Red Mage glam in FFXIV is the greatest looking Red Mage of all time. DRG gets the vote for being the only Spear using anything that doesn't make me bored immediately.

I also went with Dragoon, although now I'm thinking Monk. Unlocking Monk on my first FFT run was an inspiring moment. Just that "How's this monk hitting harder than this Knight with his hands?" kind of moment when I was maybe...9 years old?

Just a reminder to all us old folks than Final Fantasy Tactics came out in 97

I went black mage even though I wanted to say red mage. However, when I think of red mages, I think of their inability to do the best magic from FF1.

Dragoon was a close second because they manage to look so badass in every game. Kain is my boy.

Very tough. Was torn between Dark Knight for how much I love the concept, Dragoon for being cool dragon warrior and iconic, and Red Mage for usefulness, style, and iconic. Ultimately went with Red Mage.

Ninja always falls off end game except in 3 and 14.

Dragoon is usually better and more sturdy.

Red mage tends to be ass but dammit the concept is iconic.

I'm fine with any of these 3 winning though my personal vote went dragoon.

A number of other Dragoon portrayals don't quite do it for me, though.

also didn't help that prior to DRG getting buffs super late into the 75 cap days, SAM was a better spear user than DRG

pizzas were a godsend for leveling. attack, accuracy, and didn't cost as much as sushi and other expensive foods.

man, i miss ffxi

The only time I can think of Red Mage being weak is FF5, but you still want to level them for Doublecast.

FF1 - Second best job in the game by far. It's pretty much Fighters >>> Red Mages >>> Everyone else.

FF3 (DS) - You're expected to move onto the later jobs for the most part, but Red Mage is the best job in the first half of the game. Their equipment options actually put them in the middle-tier as far as endgame job rankings go.

FF5 - Not really a great job in and of itself, but mastering it gives you Doublecast. So, you still want to use them.

FF6 - Really, almost everyone's a freaking Red Mage on crack. Terra and Celes, especially.

FF11 - Really awesome buffer with good healing capability. They have a well-defined role in this game.

FF12 - Red Battlemage is a great job from start to finish, and one of the few that doesn't need a second job to patch anything. Though Red/Black is the most damaging caster in the game.

FFTA/A2 - Again, it's all about that doublecast.

FF14 - Can't speak much about them. But they look like cool DPS.

Dual casting/double casting, convert, chain casting, etc. As well as being able to heal, resurrect, debuff, buff, exploit weaknesses, etc. So what they don't do it the best but it frees up a slot in your party when you've got one dude who can do it good enough AND more!

Plus they're stylish. What's not to like?
2hr stun locking as a rdm/drk. rdms started soloing some of the sky gods and shit. i believe blm was able to solo some tough stuff as well, but yeah.

rdm was so fucking based in xi.
