Of course, it was just my bro... he got a new job locally, and I randomly encountered him when I was getting milk

This is the first time I saw someone I knew while doing errands.

...

How often do you bump into people you know?

I've only had it happen a handful of times. I once met a former classmate just walking down the street in the middle of the suburbs. Other than that every time has been at the store and it's never been that big a surprise cause I knew they lived close and shopped at the same store.

Quite often. I recognize people by their gait since my long distance vision for faces is not great (I should wear my glasses more.. Or contacts) so I use that to avoid some people I suspect I see in the distance lol...

My mom though has hilarious stories. She was a flight attendant and literally everywhere she would bump into someone. On the bus in the middle of nowhere in Mexico, oh hey person she hadn't seen since high school! Lol

I'm a teacher, so I'm known by hundreds of people in my community. I run into people I know probably about 75% of the time I go out, even if it's a trip to the grocery store.

I saw my brothers best friend in my local store a few days ago. It seems he just finished work but I've always liked the bloke as he shows interest in me other than my brothers brother. He has a recently newborn and no doubt is a great dad.

welll fuuuuuuuu

I just texted my bro since he's probably off work now...

...ehhh, he doesn't work at pizza hut, he didn't go out today 'cuz he has night shift tonight.

That wasn't my bro....

...
...

But he looked JUST like him, and sounded like him, and had the same haircut and clothes (aside from shoes, but IDK if my bro has work shoes)... and when I gave him a "thumbs up" (cuz he was on the phone when I saw him and I didn't want to bug him at work) he even nodded back the same way my bro does.

...

I'm freaked out, man

It's pretty rare for me. I live in a decent sized city though. I think we have four Walmarts here.

how...how is that the first time in so many years? when I was living in a tiny town in alaska I ended up finding a guy that lived like two miles away from my childhood home

I see people I know practically every day and I have to pretend I didn't see them so I don't have to talk to them

I think there was one fairly recently but I'm struggling to remember it. Oh! I saw a guy from my old work at the grocery a few weeks ago, but that isn't what I'm thinking of. And I didn't talk to him or anything, he wasn't someone I knew well.

Man, in college that used to happen so much, but I don't know if that counts since everyone had the same hangouts. But I remember back when I'd go to a bar or brewery and one of my friend groups would always joke how I'd see someone I knew every time we went there. I don't know why it happened cause I really have never been a popular guy.

Uhhh. Well, I live in a new (small) city, so I don't at all, or haven't yet. Without online classmates, I probably know around 6 people here, and with online classmates around 30.

In Victoria where I lived for 9 years (population over 300,000) I would run into people I knew almost every day if I went out. It has small regular 'core' areas and I knew hundreds of people. If we're talking about my hometown of around 7,000, I will probably run into people I know walking about. Although it's becoming less common as people move away or die (I knew a lot of old people, I grew up in an old people town).

Like, in Vic, I'd run into my cousin hollering out the window at me on the street.

I used to bump into people I know pretty regularly. The past 5~ years it totally dropped off. A big part of it is that it's a ripoff here so a lot of them moved to other cities to buy houses.
