They're the only large retail company that is solely dedicated to video games.

Like with some creativity they could easily dominate the market.

I mean I would have to sit down and think of some ideas but to start some kind of rewards program like best buy gamerclub. I know they had some powerup rewards thing. I haven't looked into it in a while but it used to be garbage.

Gamestop is a shit company.

They took over all the good national chains in the 90s and early 2000s and replaced them with shit, and now they are the only true video game store left outside of mom and pop stores.

You gave no good ideas or suggestions

Of course rewards programs are garbage You cant make money by giving away shit for free.

If I sat down for 1 day to think of ideas, I could probably come up with more innovative ideas than they've thought of in 2 decade.

Rewards programs aren't shit. The idea is you're taking customers from other companies. So many people buy from target/amazon/best buy whatever has the best deal. They can give the best deals in the form of loyalty programs, take that hit, have more customers in the long run. Its a net profit.

They had a neat idea with of restructuring prior to Covid, but the pandemic really expedited their decline before they could test it. Basically, it was going to replace the "geek merch" sections in several stores with e-sports kiosk/hubs and include more retro games.

They even had spec demos at business conventions, but again...pandemic happened, and they recessed back into their shit habits and practices out of desperation.

At the heart of things, GameStop is a pawn shop. There isnt a ton to do with that premise, especially in an industry that is becoming increasingly digital. And your competition includes established businesses like Amazon and eBay.

Video games that cost a fixed amount that other retailers with better e-commerce operations can sell and ship to customers. And now that industry is moving to downloadable games which cuts them out even more.

This is not a bad idea at all.

When I say they need innovation and creativity, this is what I mean. Like look beyond just stocking games and some basic accessories. E-sports hubs, host tournaments, local parties/clubs, etc. I'm a casual gamer now but if my local gamestop was hosting a fifa tournament or COD tournament, you bet your ass I'd get in on it.

I mean these things of things take alot of money to start, but they can always gather up enough to do it in big cities and expand from there.

They could just...

Buy alot of copies of niche games and hold them sealed and sell them later when they are harder to find.

Or do something cool like instead of partnering with companies to make shitty dlc, partner with then and make an unofficial manual for games that don'r have one and the nostalgia people wpuld buy their games from them for that.

Problem is that ebay and amazon have better prices for used niche games and that is gamestops forte that walmart, best buy and such doesn't have.

Not joking, I actually do wish they would redesign the stores to look cleaner and more modern. I feel like the store has had mostly the same look since the mid 2000s and current design trends have clearly moved on since then.

Older games and contests/giveaways/tournaments would help.
Merch is fine but it should be interesting to look at, not shelves full of junk like socks with the Fallout 76 logo.
Real rewards for people who spend a lot of money in the store, not a 10% coupon.

Make it a celebration of games and try to get away from the pawn shop look.

They could sell game osts for msrp.

Those are often things you have to import from japan and stuff like that.

Maybe a section with artbooks.

Idk, tbh you can buy those things on amazon too but having it all one place might be nice.

Maybe sell some food while you browse lol.

Have a place you can play tabletop games at.
