Why didnt the Adalites just share the morphing technology with the Yeerks/Taxxons so they wouldn't feel the need to enslave entire races?

Were they too bitter about the Yeerks destroying their trust?

The war escalated quickly. The yeerks were in the 'empire game' pretty early on and would always be a threat because at any point they gained enough power, they can take over whoever they want, literally. Also, what form are the yeerks supposed to have taken? If they morphed andalites they would have seen it as a violation as well as many other species. Not to mention if they escape in the two hours before becoming a nothlit, you now have a rogue yeerk capable of all kinds of madness.

The yeerks weren't the bad guys for wanting bodies and sight, they were the bad guys because of their actions. They immediately began subjugating huge chunks of the sentient universe.

Seerow's Kindness.

After the Yeerks, they made a law that's basically their Prime Directive.

Up until Elfangor, NOBODY had violated it.

It's about shame, not bitterness.

I think so. They didn't exactly waste time. Attacked Seerow's crew and and immediately went out searching to enslave another race.

No he seems to be right. Most andalites dont acquire animals at all, in later books Ax talks about the Animorphs actually using morphing far better than the andalites ever did.

In one of Ax's POV, he says Andalites sometimes practise morphing.

Just that I wondered if Ax thinking Visser Three had been to the Andalite world was a continuity error.

Anyway, now on book 34, Cassie has taken on the Andalite girl's mind from the Hork Bajir homeworld. Why do my guys keep getting themselves into these situations? I'm getting real Stargate vibes from the last few books.

Instant maple and ginger oatmeal, specifically. And it didn't just make the Yeerks crazy, it also removed their need for Kandrona radiation so they could stay in a host indefinitely, but that's not useful if they're crazy.

IIRC there's a standoff with Visser Three towards the end with a barrel of the oatmeal over the Yeerk pool and the kids threatening to shoot it with a Dracon beam to try to negotiate.

Jake even acknowledges that the entire thing is stupid and no one will remember it as an important battle.

Yep! Though I can't recall if that's the one where Visser Three basically says "That's fine, I don't care if you murder thousands of my subordinates. I'm safe." or if that was another book. They did a good job making him completely irredeemable some times.

Part of that was a bluff, and they call him on it. They actually do dump some in the pool

Soecifically it alters the yeerk brainstem and removes part so theyre irreversibly insane. I like to think eventually the insanity would cause the yeerk to crawl out, or something is done post-war.

I literally JUST finished that one.

Visser Three says that he might lose 500 Yeerks but it's an acceptable sacrifice.

Rachel grabs him with her trunk, throws his dumb ass into the pool, then asks him if it's still acceptable.

He'd absorb the oatmeal almost instantly through his hooves.

Goosebumps had better covers so they were more popular. But pretty much anyone who tried Animorphs agrees that it's the much better series.

They're called the Nartec. Humans native to Earth who mutated to live under water. Very strange.

If the above poster is correct and they're never mentioned again then I think I could quite easily have skipped that one.

Plus Jake directly speaks to Visser Three a lot towards the end in total contradiction to their usual way of communicating through Ax.

Something that is bugging me. The use of the word Controller.

Surely the Yeerk is the Controller. Not the host.

So you don't "become a Controller". You get a Controller in your head.

So a human-Controller would be a "Yeerk with a human host body." Not a "human with a Yeerk in his head", right?

Lol I just read this today. Books 26 onward with two exceptions are ghost written until 52, 53 and 54 along with chronicles/megamorphs. Grant and Applegate wrote an outline and then the ghostwriters fleshed it out. Some are better than others, and some of the ghostwritten ones are among the better books as well, like 41 even though its totally out of left field. They do continue to build the main storylines but Id argue aside from broad strokes only Marcos is plot relevant and the rest build on what is there.

Some of it is quite good, and everything 41 onward should be read for sure. There are some side quests in the middle where they hurt the yeerks by foiling a new plan, or help with the galactic war effort like 34, but until the 40s the hard blows arent hitting yet, and some like 31 are self contained episodes where neither party wins or loses anything aside from insight or experience.

I will say right now that at least a fifth of the books are centered or plot driven by the Chee. I got into a 4 block run where they all were the other day. Most of the time its the androids bringing info or its something going on with them. There are like 3 books about the pemalite ship. Easily the most important allies followed by the free Hork Bajir.

Yeah but the controller nom is really just to differentiate between the innocent non yeerked humans/aliens and the ones already in the thrall. Its mostly a moral reason, because they batter human controllers and even murder Hork Bajir and Taxxons left and right, but the innocent they only hurt if they absolutely must.

But I think what he is getting at, is which entity is the Controller?

Calling the Human the Controller doesn't make sense because the Human is not in Control. So you would call the Yeerk the Controller of the Human.

On Book 39. The Cassie books are getting kind of tiresome, honestly.

There's been a few that I haven't enjoyed so much. The last Ax one with the Andalites was pretty good.

I tried watching the tv series the other night. They're all(?) on YouTube. Couldn't get through more than two episodes. My God, it's bad.

17 books to go, including a Megamorphs and the Ellimist Chronicles.

I think I've read at least two of them already. #41 and, I believe, The Journey is another one featuring the Helmacrons.
