I actually hated Hank more than Skylar. I always felt he was really condescending towards Walt and acted like an asshole towards him. Hank actually felt like he was trying to emasculate Walt constantly.

And yet he gets way less hate than Skyler. But I'm talking about the part where Hank found about Walt being a criminal and becomes insanely ruthless in wanting him arrested.

Holy shit, people watched the show for the Meth Kingpin, not the family drama.

Why is it if you dislike a female character you're automatically a misogynist? The fun part of the show are the Meth parts, not the spouse disagreements. It makes sense people wouldnt like her; she was an antagonist in her own right. The actor played the part PERFECTLY to the point some people love to hate her, her character wasnt "fun".

Ok, I can't speak for other people, which is why I try and not generalize entire groups of people. Like I said, im sure there were misogynistic people that watched the show and would have hated Skylar no matter what she did, but I don't agree any and all hate(or even dislike) towards Skylar is based solely on misogyny.

I see what you mean, but it sounds like those people were far to invested in the show and that's a "them" problem. Some people sent Jeoffry's actor death threats over his role in GoT, my opinion was hes just a terrific actor and played the role so well you literally LVE to hate him. It's only because he has talent, not because hes actually a sociopath.

True, and I agree 100%, but it wasnt the best part.

Like I said, people wanted the Walt/Jesse power hour, not the Walt/Family drama show. I'm not about to start throwing insults around atm, but it's what they wanted to see, amd when it wasnt that they were dissatisfied.

It wouldn't be hated. And I believe it actually still would be extremely popular if all the same content was there.

It would be hated if it were spammed all over the entire internet like MLP was by the bronies. It would never break the stigma that it was for a show for toddlers.

Because Jesse was part of the "good" part. His character was developed extensively more than Skylars.

I dislike Skylar for my own reasons; mostly being how she treated Walt before she knew. Some was good but some was straight fucked imo. But that's my opinion, not a fact.

Lol this is incorrect. People watched the show because it was a drama. A core point of the show since the very first season was Walter cooking meth on the side and not telling his family about it. Obviously that was going to build up to something.

If you expected anything otherwise you completely missed the point of it

If it had stayed about that specific drama, where he hid it from them it would have been better. As soon as Skylar found out the drama changed. A lot of the drama was about the suspense of them finding out/him hiding it.

Not to the extent MLP was and still is. There werent 1000 spongebob generals on CE. There arent spongebob crossovers with all other fictional and nonfictional characters posted everywhere like MLP. For a few years you couldnt escape that shit no matter where you went. Theres at most a spongebob reference or two every now and then

people watched that show for the contrived narrative tension and she only served to get in the way of the fun stuff. She's less of a character and more of an extended plot point that no one liked. But she would have worked if the show was character driven, so blame the writers

Which I think is fine, the show is heavily from Walter's perspective and making him relatable early on was kind of crucial. No one would have wanted to watch it if they framed him as badly as they objectively should have in the earlier seasons.

People also seem to forget she was pregnant without a stable job, and her husband has cancer. I only thought her actions were reasonable. Not everybody can stay calm during that much duress, in fact most people can't, especially not her haters lol

I dislike her greatly, but the show is great. She adds to it a lot, just in a "I love to hate you" kinda way. I dont think a lot of people recognize her as an antagonist and just think shes a "bitchy hero".

Kinda like Debra in Dexter; she was not a terrific character is you just wanted to see Dex on a murder spree, but she was one of the main reasons that show was awesome(I love Deb btw, she was amazing until the last season).

That's the biggest reason she is disliked, because she is a voice of reason in a story about an unreasonable man.

When she did not tell Ted to fuck off and respect her marriage, and when she not on started cheating with Ted but rubbed Walters face in it is when she became unlikeable.

Walter should have had her killed for that betrayal especially when she was proud of cheating in his face.

Because even if her attitude could be seen as "bitchy" as an observer, the fact she was put through so much makes it feels gross to blame her for being "bitchy" as she retaliates. Long history of guys retaliating and it being seem as a positive and woman retaliating only to be seen as the "bitch".

If men and women both had a history of being called "bitch" for the same context, that word would feel different. Used against men as a term to immaculate them and make them feel like they're wrong for not displaying toxic behavior and it's used against women to demean them for acting as a man would and standing up for herself. Of course, as a manipulation tactic to try to get women to stop standing up for themselves.

The way you're using it falls into the latter.

Haven't watched it since the final season aired. My reason for hating Skyler had nothing to do with her being a woman. I hated that after jumping in with both feet to help with the money laundering, she later started acting like nothing was her fault.

That's just my takeaway from what others act like. I dislike her for my own reasons, not because I think shes bitchy. I dislike her because she isnt the fun part, shes the serious part. She has her own way if adding to the show, but it's not as a hero imo.

Although she is DEFINITELY a hero in the show, doing whatever she had to, even ruining her own reputation with her family to save them.
