Well. Cretins like Logan Paul, Invader V, Fine Bros, Justin Bieber and so many MANY others have been absolute assholes and their channels on you tube and their revenue is just as popular and lucrative as ever.

Of course someone coming out as Transgender is the only thing that will successfully kill someone's channel.

in the last six months:

1. his videos have begun leaning a lot harder into national politics and social issues. Yes, those elements have been present basically from the offset,, but when I say he's leaned far more into them, I mean a while hell of a lot more. For example, he's shifter from slagging off specific companies/practices to just outright slagging off capitalism in general, which is a harder sell. And on a social level, while I agree with his stance that games/stories are inherently political, as its basically impossible to avoid, his relating absolutely everything to modern political issues, at every turn, is also a harder sell than what he did before. And that's gonna alienate some folks.

2. he spent a lot of time slagging off Cyberpunk and CDPR, BEFORE it was cool to do so. Even though he was proven right in hindsight, it doesn't much matter to the sub count.

3. he recently changed his shows format from one giant topic/week to a more traditional rapod-fire-3-to-4-stories-of-the-week. Format changes aren't good for subscriber counts.

4. He recently came out as non-binary and made all the usual requests (pronouns, etc) that come with that turf. Nuff said; part of the audience is gonna kick back.

most people who started on youtube who were actual gamers are losing subscribers. It's all driven by corporations anyways. Sterling was for show too but has become outdated due to media generated millennials. Most of the old school stuff is dying which is a shame really. It's all bad and a false reality but it's just getting worse. Jim Sterling while a weirdo and not quite human himself, was more human that what we see now. The dumbing down continues and oversaturation where people are bored.

I never found Jim's political views to be particularly informative and barely a step above the juvenile.
Please note that "capitalism" is not "companies doing things I don't like." They could just be short-sighted imbeciles, too.
When he goes in that direction I sort of tune him out.

Jim can make some decent points but they just sells industry drama. They are literally Keemstar but niche. Stopped watching they years ago.

He's disgusting and I don't mean because coming out as nonbinary or anything like that.

It's just he's gross as a person and makes toilet humour and everything grosses and disgusts me out, plus he's insufferable personality wise and anything he has to say, I'll listen to from other more palatable sources and two weeks earlier too

I can say I'm less interested in Sterling's work these days. I understand the direction they have gone, and it's not like I've made some decisions to reject the content. I just don't click it when I see it, in large part because I have a pretty good idea of what's going to be said regardless of what the video is ostensibly about.

The abrasiveness was always part of Sterling's shtick, but it also made them a lot more annoying too. Even when I used to watch the Jimquisition years ago, it was often more off putting than amusing.

This is the big thing for me, and why I unsubbed from his channel maybe 4 or 5 months ago. I never minded his critical analysis of industry, and for a while he was a sort of Youtube Jason Schreier. After a while though, it became way too repetitive. I could tell within the first 20 seconds what the full content of his video was going to be and I started skipping more and more videos until I realized I wasn't actually looking forward to a new upload so I just dropped him entirely.

I can sympathize with him over the fact that his other videos (shitty game reviews, digging through greenlight, trailer reactions, and actual game reviews) got bombed by the algorithm, and I'm sure his recent shift is good for his channel in terms of long-term growth. It's just not why I started watching him in the first place.

From what I gather, non-binary is not identifying as strictly male or female, masculine or feminine, and presenting yourself in ways that might incorporate both cues.

That being said....they bought the cheapest, most unnatural looking wig possible and put on some lipstick for what appears to be the very first time. Most people are going to assume they're a trans woman.

the "poor indie dev" that legit invented almost 20 sockpuppet "companies" to smuggle more asset flip games onto steam

for fuck's sake, one of the instances of "libel" in their case was sterling saying they were "as sly as the Wet Bandits."
