Unless they're going to use it as "well why hasn't Biden reinstated the ban on admin officials yet?" or some insane bullshit

This administration has actually been a pretty interesting thought experiment. Scientists and academics of the future will be able to use it as a control measure for any policy making in future, with this being the baseline for "exactly the wrong thing to do" in any given criteria, in order to measure how good or effective other measures are.

I'm sure Biden can revoke it, and it'll be in effect for 4 or maybe 8 years, until AOC makes it another 8 years.

The entire EO mechanism needs a significant rethink.

question though, if someone gets into lobbying before Biden reinstates it (if he does) would they be grandfathered into the role?

if so a day might be more than enough time to make whatever moves they need to. But I have no idea if it can terminate someone retroactively.
