Current Events > I don't see why Austin, Tx is so hyped up

This is the first city I have visited since moving to Houston from Nashville, TN which is the worst city in the country btw and I'm just not a huge fan of these growing secondary cities for these 4 reasons.

1) The population has outgrown it's infrastructure. Traffic didn't make any sense here, I felt like the roads were really congested and I felt boxed in most of the time.

2) The colonizer to colony feel. I can understand why people complain about Californians there because it felt like they were just taking over and establishing their own world there. In Nashville, it was more so people from the Michigan, Illinois, and just any **** snow belt state in general and it was annoying af.

3) These cities are pretty racist cities disguised as woke liberal mecca cities. The suburbs of Houston are more diverse than downtown Austin, but I hear how woke Austin is. It's not just Austin with this fake persona, but Nashville, Raleigh, and all these rising secondary cities have these issues.

4) They try so hard to build an identity that it makes everything overcrowded, overpriced, and unreasonable. Yes, Jakes Chicken shack was good before the population boom, but now it always has a line waiting outside and you can only go there at Tuesday at 11am to avoid it and also charge 25 bucks a meal. Hmmmm, we've always had this average park here, but since we gotta be boys now, lets overhype it and make it crowded af with no parking to give it that Austin effect. I've been to most major cities on this planet and I always see this bull **** in rising secondary cities lol.

Even if it was or is a great place to live the astonishing amount of people moving from LA and Cali to Texas will make it completely unaffordable and suck.

I moved from Austin to San Antonio in late 2019. I'm enjoying not getting stuck in a traffic jam every time I need to drive somewhere.

The hill country is nice. A lot less crowded and beautiful scenery.

I would downtown because the traffic is awful

Traffic is definitely worse in Houston than in Austin. So that's a plus.

I mean rush hour traffic is going to be worse, but that's expected. I'm basing the chances of running in to a random traffic jam on a Saturday night like I was in Austin lol.

San Antonio is randomly a bit of a national hub of transsexuals.

They got a serious convention game going on.

Its the relatively quieter historical Texas city.

Its kind of the mega sized version of some cities near the Texas Mexican border, just much farther north.

Just don't live in a giant city and it's amazing how these seemingly impossible problems resolve

Houston is better than Austin imo, mainly from a cost of living standpoint and the fact that it has professional sports teams and there's just simply so much to do there.

Austin is a really nice, big college town that has an overall chill vibe. Like someone said it's a party city and the party is stopped right now due to COVID. It's also definitely one of the cleanest cities I've ever spent time in.

Dallas is on the comeup too, but I prefer the cuisine in Houston.

Houston is amazing and people ignore it for other cities which makes it less pretentious, expensive, and annoying as cities like LA, Chicago, and NYC.
