I honestly feel this would be the smartest move Biden could do.

It would go a insanely long way to healing our very divided country.

It would make it obvious he wants to heal the nation, rather than divide it.

I realize a lot of you are very ehhhh pro "Fuck Trump supporters."

But please remember most of our older family members are Trump supporters.

Fuck no. We made that mistake after the Civil War and so many problems in our society are stemmed from that still.

Nixon also got pardoned i think. If Trump or any of his cronies get pardons, it sends a message that you can get away with this bullshit. We have to send a different message. A harsh one.

A) Who on the right has been wrongly imprisoned?
B) While the goal of trying to have people get along is noble, what makes you believe pardoning will achieve that? People all the way from Rush down to Trump protesters have said they thought the attack was justified and (more importantly) that nothing will ever convince them Biden won fairly.

Imagine seeing a terrorist attack and wanting to let them go without consequences.

Generally when a massive wound is inflicted, you dont pray that it heals. You go to the fucking ER and get it fixed while removing any possible infection. Otherwise it festers and continues to cause issue until its gotta be cut off at a later date, causing significantly more damage than necessary.

Basically you Pardon to heal people have no grasp of history or any foresight whatsoever. Im done pardoning that extremely stupid line of thinking since its a massive contributor to how we got here today.

No. Pardoning them would be saying that this is okay. It would encourage this behavior in the future. You can do something like pursue lesser charges and giving the minimum possible sentences for some of the folks, but the most important people would have to face the full punishment. If a nation wishes to remain stable, it cannot allow the idea that you can attempt to overthrow it to be seen as acceptable.

If we don't set an example that a sitting president -should not- incite violence, lie constantly, single handedly attempt and mostly succeed at dismantling everything the previous president accomplished just because they don't like them...

You're trying to keep it related so you can bullshit around, but you can't answer directly. It's too common a shit tactic for discussing/argument.

For example I agree with what he said. Do I agree on the war on drugs? Uh no. But those issues, despite being in the same ballpark if you try to push them together for the sake of an argument, are WORLDS apart. You can generalize and blanket them together, but they are complex issues that need individual solutions.

You're going from one extreme to the other. Not pardoning Trump doesn't automatically mean we are a police country.
