there are risks here, but the risks of not doing it are probably greater. most aren't smart or motivated enough to set up their own comm systems or platforms so their comm systems will bust. if there are a few line wolf types, that's still less risky than a publicly available app used to plan insurrections.

No, this country is in this state because no one in power has taken any real action to oppose the rise of fascism. Many of them are already a lost cause, they'll latch on to anything to stir up outrage (see all of the batshit insane mask conspiracies theories and the like).

Taking away their platform and hopefully preventing more people from falling down that rabbit hole is pretty much the only option at this point.

Stomp them out could also be throwing them and jail and tossing away the key, or eliminating any place where they might hide like Parler.

Squashing parler doesn't make these people magically disappear. I fear something else will inevitably emerge in its place.

Then we will truly have this country living in different worlds with different facts. Then what? Do tech giants in silicon valley block right wing social media apps on their devices in perpetuity?

I understand why twitter banned trump, but I have a legitimate fear that the repercussions of that decision may make the riot Wednesday look like a small footnote in history by comparison.
