Same reason that martial arts gets a bad rap

A lot of scumbags set up crossfit gyms and injure people and scam them
Crossfit isn't actually bad. It's just hard to find a worthwhile gym

Think of like joining a boxing gym or MMA gym and there's no permission to spar. Now imagine if 99% of gyms were like that. Tht's the problem with crossfit.

It's honestly not a bad program for anyone who is just getting into the gym and wants to improve their health/fitness. It just doesn't specialize in anything, and if you want a program that specializes in strength, for instance, there are better programs for that. Or for hypertrophy, cardio, there are better programs for those as well.

I knew people in the Army that did it and got themselves hurt because it's way too high impact. In the Army if you break yourself doing this sort of thing you get a pension for life from the VA.

Civilians are wrecking their body doing crossfit and all they get is pain.

I've been a member of a few crossfit gyms and they must have been good ones. The coaches were always encouraging proper form. The only time I hurt myself doing crossfit was when I was doing box jumps and missed the box.

Pretty much the high risk of injury and preposterous workouts.

I mean you shouldn't be doing cleans and snatches over 5 reps, yet that's what is prescribed in crossfit.

I will say they did make a niche sport (weightlifting) a little less niche and Crossfit women along with fitness chicks have nice achievable bodies. Too bad the body positivity crowd screams they are unrealistic.

There's nothing wrong with it in theory, it's just exercise entertainment. Lift! Press! Run! Do twenty more! Go go go go! Wow look at your callouses! Work til you puke! Kick your legs to do more reps!

It goes against all knowledge of strength training. It also attracts the worst showoff bro brahs

I've seen lots of videos about people doing pullups and squirming around while doing it. Which goes against everything I learned in gym class at least. You shouldn't be jerking your body like that. One fluid motion, expand swiftly, hold, contract slowly.

I've seen videos of people doing Starting Strength (best strength training program for novice-level lifters) with terrible form. Not a bad reflection on the program, it just means the individual doing the exercises isn't doing the program correctly.

Very high injury rate. I only kniw three people who did it, 2 guys 1 girl, and nine of them are doing it anymore because of injuries. One guy blew his knee out so bad he cant want normally anymore. Slight noticeable limp now.
