this game is just so much damn fun

they took the template of breath of the Wild and improved on it in most respects, and the game is filled with cool puzzles that give you actual meaningful upgrades

dialog is terrible but everything else totally makes up for it

somewhat out of nowhere for me as I first heard of it when they dropped a trailer in like October

its a shame ubisoft fucking sucks

It follows BOTWs formula pretty closely

You can climb anywhere as long as you have stamina, you get most of your core abilities right off the bat (including a glider, this games version of magnesis, and a bow), you are given four quest lines to tackle in any order once you pass a tutorial section, and the map is littered with vaults that are short-ish platform/puzzle/combat challenges that reward you with a collectible you use to upgrade stamina

this game has skill trees, a lot more overworld puzzling, and a better combat system though

It's the Switch game released in 2020 I spent the most time playing.

I agree with you on basically all aspects. A lot of people praised it for its humor and dialog and it didn't hit with me at all. I thought that was the worst part of the game. Besides that, the combat is fun, the puzzles are good, the visuals and enemies are great and it makes up for a lot of my gripes with BotW. It definitely feels like it takes many elements of BotW and improves it.

I completely disagree with all of that except Ubisoft sucking (though they're better than ea and Activision blizzard) but glad you enjoyed it. I would rate it a 6; decent, but doesn't hold a candle to what it copies

Its basically exactly the same as BOTW but you do have a double jump and can summon a horse instantly.

Kind of

each section of the map has a statue you have to climb to the top of to reveal the map

then, you can go into a view mode and scan the landscape for points of interest. You have to manually add each icon to the map by revealing it on scan

there are very few collectibles for the sake of collectibles; nearly every icon on the map is some kind of challenge or puzzle that provides meaningful gameplay
