This. I've wanted to get back into it myself. Go back to being a Ninja with a Thief subjob but then I remember the crafting and such.

I tried it again in January. Was super easy to get multiple jobs to 99 in a couple weeks but endgame relevance is still as grindy as it ever was. Enjoyed myself while it lasted though.

Never played FF11, it seems like it was held in high regard. I've tried FFXIV but play for a week or two then drop out :(

I think if my goal is ultimately to just complete the story again (beat it on the original game) and explore the new story content I'm probably good, but... from an inventory management perspective I don't remember wtf is going on.

There are Talismans (your protective equipment) and Weapons and Glyphs and Signets and you use Anima Distillate which is like XP canisters for your gear to level it up and each quality tier (Green, Blue, Purple, etc.) has a max level and if I remember right you have to fuse two max-level pieces of the same items (Shotguns or Major Talisman or w/e) of the same tier to get an item of the next tier and repeat the process and holy shit it's overwhelming.

I dont think Ive played any other big console MMOs though.. I was pretty interested in the Elder Scrolls one but never got around to buying it

Runescape gets convoluted but the Wiki is pretty robust and I don't have too hard of a time focusing on a single skill or two at a time and doing a quest every once in a while.

You should check out ESO, it's a pretty fantastic time imo. I got a little tired of the dungeons though... tried to freeform a build and it didn't really turn out too well I think >_> ALSO you're locked in to one class - you can usually respec between one role or another but you're still limited to the skills of that class.

What I liked about classic TSW and in RS is that you can swap roles and everything on the fly.

Reminds me of DFO. The core of the game is excellent, but it suffers from that old school Korean Freemium design.

Just an absolutely overwhelming amount of items that all do slight variants of the same thing.

I stopped paying for DCUO years ago and the only reason I dont start it up again as f2p is because I got like 3x the inventory space in the paid version so that would be a nightmare to manage

OSRS just feels so much more intuitive

Dungeon Fighter Online. Brawler, ala Streets of Rage or Final Fight, but with classes, equipment, skill trees, and combos out the wazoo, all in a fantasy setting. They recently announced a fighting game based on it, although this one looks like a more traditional 2D fighting game.
