One of my best friends is a foreman and he works his ass off.

Tradework is far more important and lucrative than most jobs that require a degree. This is coming from someone who earned a degree and took on a trade.

It's not blue collars fault you chose wrong with your degree. Look at some employment sites and if someone is willing to pay well across the country move.

Why do you think a degree should be a prerequisite for a good paying job?

If I had a building project I'd rather hire a Forman whose done countless building jobs for years or decades than some guy who just graduated with a degree studying building theory, lol

It's construction. If you're a GC who regularly handles full scale building projects, you rake millions upon millions for your company, and it's not like you're necessarily a widespread company so pay can unsurprisingly come real well.

But the industry comes with a lot of hassle. Surprisingly stupid people if not just people who keep working with their own side agendas to weasel their way through. Foremen and general field teams are almost 24/7.

My current outlook on degrees and success is highly dependent on the trending industry. Even then, coming up short on networking and figuring out the game of the working industry as a well will keep you from getting anywhere.
Generally speaking, though, having a degree is an entry level formality. Not many people get the opportunity to be picked up via trade alone, so a degree is now an expensive safeguard.

People find jobs everyday. Whining about how difficult it is isn't gonna help you find a better one. To be blunt, no one else besides you really cares about your job or how much you make. Which means no one but you is gonna change that.

I'm not assuming anything, if you're not being paid well there isn't a high demand in proportion to the supply of people who can and are willing to do your job.

Or you're a sucker who needs to ask for a raise. So which is it?

I can't go back to supply chain because HR is like lol in finance and rejects my resume, I can't get a finance job because they see my degree and say lol not finance and rejects. and I can't take a pay cut or go back to school. Probably a shit-ton of overtime and 12+ hour days.

I've been foreman many times. A lot of people say it's not worth the extra money, and I can see why they say that. As foreman, you're designated 'front-line supervision' which means you are responsible for everything and anything that goes wrong. Even if you had no way of knowing something was wrong beforehand.

Yeah, but I know corporate managers that make less than that and have to have a degree, sometimes even a graduate degree

Keep in mind a tradesperson has to go through three or four years (periods) of schooling, depending on trade and area. In those periods of schooling (I believe they are 8 week long periods on average) they are learning specifically about their trade. Oftentimes in graduate degrees, a student has to take multiple electives that aren't directly related to what they are hoping to learn but can encompass a 'well-rounded' education.

Further, a tradesperson spends multiple years as apprentices gaining increased responsibilities as they go through the years. At any point, these apprentices have a possibility of losing their apprenticeship if they are shown to not take it seriously or if they are not demonstrating improved abilities.

Once an apprentice becomes a journeyman, does not mean they stop learning or improving, nor that they are necessarily competent. It's a lifelong learning process, and often are required to take additional training through the years.

I also don't understand why you're trying to equate a degree with earning ability. It's supply and demand. Good tradesman are desired at a minimum, and the best ones can make a company tons of money.

Thats pretty good money bro, a foreman makes that money because hes in charge of managing a big as group of people where lots of things can go wrong

like physical danger type-o things - if something fucks up theyre liable for the death of others

find ways to invest your money so it gives you returns or simply just stop spending if you havent already
