I've read and seen a number of stories where a character forgets their own birthday, and I'm curious how much that happens in real life. I sure as heck have never forgotten my birthday. And nowadays, with social media and various other places that might remind you of it, it would be even more peculiar to forget it.

Never that. I'm forgetful sometimes, but that date is securely stored in my head, as unforgettable as my long obsolete childhood home phone number.
