The point of giving everyone a $600 check isn't to help people, it is to help prop up the economy and line the pockets of people who are already rich. The same money could be spent to provide way more help to the people who need it most

The $600 only makes up like 1/9th of the proposed bill. Everyone should be getting $5000+ if the money went to the people.

~128 million people received or will receive a stimulus check. With this new bill they will have spent about $3 trillion on public relief. If they just gave it all to the people instead of lining their billionaire donors' pockets, everyone would have received over $23,000 each.

How's that for stimulating your economy?

This stuff is weird to me. If they gave us all $5k the majority of it is going right into billionaires pockets anyway.

Most folks aren't going to use that money to start a business or just shove it in the bank. They're going to spend it and gladly give it to billionaires. The only difference between directly giving it to billionaires is that other people will be a little better off/happier as well.

The bill includes a check for most Americans (direct cash infusion), continuance of federal aid programs (unemployment bonus), grants/loans for businesses to continue to pay their employees (paycheck protection program), rental assistance programs, state/city assistance programs, and vaccine delivery funds.

Out of all these, the money going to the billions was the PPP; PPP has a clause that the money will be a grant or a low interest loan depending on the businesss size and the promise that the funds will be used for paying their employees.

Plenty of people have reduced hours or payouts due to Covid. Also self employed people exist and are likely bleeding money during this. More then just unemployed people are losing money

But don't you know, most people would rather have the cash now to spend on junk from Amazon, while small businesses close up. We can't have a program that protects jobs for when (if) this is all over so we don't have uncountable millions out of work searching for jobs in a world where 1/3 of small business has died off.
