Its too bad that their risky financial investments arent working out. They should try to look for other, more stable sources of income.

So if all these landlords decide to up and leave, what happens to the renters? I think it's at least 40% (probably more) of U.S citizens who rent. That's one hell of a homeless situation that's going to happen if all landlords decide to call it quits all at once.

The people trying to get rid of landlords are only doing that as a step towards either government seizure/redistribution or a housing market collapse to make homes cheaper. It's creating a disaster so they can implement their preferred "fix".

I can understand renting out a house. Two is pushing it.
But eight? They gambled on having steady income from tenants. A pandemic crisis is included in this equation and now they are at a net lost. Shit happens.

One would expect protections for all areas, but instead we just got all this half-assed shit with no real structure. Just freezing rent and evictions is a horrible way to do it and overly burdens landlords. That should have come with actually giving something to the landlords who have to deal with that burden, but they're instead left high and dry as far as I've seen.

Pretty much. There's a lot of other small costs that pile up quickly. People think 100% of rent is just straight into pocket.

I've bought 2 homes and own my current one outright (paid cash), I am quite familiar with the mortgage and real estate process. Oh and this should really piss you off: I sold my mortgages home for $80k over what I paid

Nope, you're still ignorant af if you seriously think a landlords only expense is paying the bank. Theres also insurance, repairs, maintenance, taxes etc that the tenant does not pay. Duh. Besides the fact there HAS to be some profit otherwise theres zero incentive to rent, none. Nobody works for free.

All the kiddos that clearly rent or live at home, why not be a part of the solution? Go put $30k down on a $150k property under a 15-30 yr mortgage. Oh and you'll also need about $6k for paperwork and closing costs. Oh and better have $10k in the bank at all times for emergency repairs. Oh and then rent it out at break even rates.
What's that? You dont have $36k and your credit is ass? Sounds like land ownership isnt for you.

This is more or less my sentiment, and it's become a problem because it's become much much harder to find starter homes when people like this are buying them all up to rent out or airbnb.

True, but look at it this way: that's 8 families that now have a place to live. Otherwise those 8 properties would just be bank owned and vacant until someone buys them. Regardless of how people feel about landlords, fact is they do create more options for renters by putting rental properties on the market
