Raw numbers it looks about fine, but then you remember that the top 1% is 1.6 million people with an average net worth of 21 billion dollars and the bottom 50% is 160 million people with an average net worth of 13 thousand dollars.
Average 1% tax bill, $336,410 (percent of wealth: 1.6 x 10^-3%), average bottom 50 tax bill $274 (percent of wealth: 2.1%)
*Note these numbers are obvious approximate for comparison as the top/bottom percent of earners(taxes) and wealth(holdings) aren't exactly the same, but I think they are close enough for a comparison when you see the extreme outcome of the math.

If we somehow liquidated all the wealth in the world, and redistributed it equally to everyone, we'd all get about $37000 each last time I checked the math.
Then, we'd almost certainly be right back to rampant wealth inequality within a decade, possibly sooner.

If people want more and better social programs they are going to have to accept higher taxes for everyone.

Taxes are the price that the wealthy pay to keep society intact, thereby allowing us to fully enjoy said wealth.

I agree that inexorbinant tax rates are bad, but fuck me the USA's tax rates don't remotely come close to the taxman levels that the UK used to have plus there are loads of loopholes to easily lower burdens.

Not to mention that the top 1% has earned such a windfall these past four years that there's really no way for Biden and Pelosi to put a dent in that even if they went fullblown actual socialist. We'll be fine.

If he had already earned at least $200,000 earlier that year, then the entire million dollars would be taxed at the 91% rate.
