I really only play indie games, but I'd take on a couple bigger games too as long as they're nice and short. Nothing over 8-10 hours please!

So far, I think I'll download:

Ikenfell
Call of the Sea
Knights and Bikes
Ori and the Will of the Wisps
Hypnospace Outlaw
Momodora: Reverie Under the Moonlight
Death's Gambit
Carto
Spiritfarer

So good.

If they've got Hollow Knight, play that too.

I've got this one on my Switch already. I liked it quite a bit though.

* Played through Hollow Knight on the Switch already too. It's pretty amazing.

** I guess I have to update my Xbox before I'll be getting anything. I hardly ever use it anymore.

I recently started this on the PS4 since my friend bought me a copy for my birthday, but I really don't know how I feel about it yet. The powers seem neat, but the story seems incredibly convoluted and the map is atrocious to the point where it's not really even usable. I might struggle through some more, but I'm not sold on it so far.

I have no suggestions, but I'm going to do the $1

Glad to see this... I've done the $1 like 5 times in the past two years. They don't seem to care, just want to get people in the system

@Aeriis

This might be a good option for $1/3 months (just make sure to cancel the auto-renew)

There's an Xbox app on PC

If you never played Tetris Effect on PS4, check it out here. The main campaign is a fun and pretty short way to experience all the different songs and visuals it has to offer.

The Gardens Between is a really charming puzzle game about forwarding and rewinding time that Id also recommend highly, its super short too.

and Streets of Rage 4 is probably the best side scrolling beat em up of the decade if youre into those, River City Girls is on there too if you want another one thats equally charming but not quite as fun
I can't stand Tetris, but I love Rez and Child of Eden, so I MIGHT try it.

And I should try Streets of Rage 4 too. I own River City Girls (it's okay) and The Gardens Between (I enjoyed it) on the Switch already. Thanks for all the suggestions!

Yes I've done this multiple times. They just want a certain % of people to forget (like kids on their parents' credit card) and that's the business model.

I remember being slightly curious about this when it came out, so maybe I'll try. Honestly, I'm looking at this as a way for me to demo things. For the most part, I buy all my games on the Switch, and if not there, the PS4. My XB1 has been neglected for YEARS now.

I've played through a good chunk of it at a friends before and I kinda liked it even though I felt like the controls were a bit awkward. I've been waiting to pick it up for really cheap on the Switch, so I might just download it here.

I started it thinking Id play it for 20 minutes and realize it was too dated. 2 different days and 7 hours later, I was looking at the credits. Hopefully me bigging it up doesn't make it underwhelming tho. Like I said, it feels like nothing special at all. It could just be me.

I downloaded Dead Cells, Katana Zero, Tetris Effect, and Gris on my PC
Then went full dude bro on the Xbox One console... NHL 94 Rewind, Madden 20, Gears 5, and Mortal Kombat X (cuz what else is a console used for?). They might be better on Pc but I'm thinking of storage space with that

I have this on the Switch too. I think I liked the second half a bit more even with all the annoying backtracking though. Maybe I'll just list my multiplatform Switch games to make it easier, haha. I've played through all of them except Invisible Inc, which I found a bit too clunky and unintuitive to actually get through it.

Actual Sunlight
Afterparty
Ape Out
Battle Chef Brigade
Blade Strangers
Bloodroots
Bury Me, My Love
Carrion
Cave Story +
Celeste
Crypt of the Necrodancer
Donut County
Enter the Gungeon
Florence
Gris
Guacamelee 2
Hades
Hollow Knight
Ikaruga
Into the Breach
Invisible Inc
Katana Zero
Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes
Killer Queen Black
Little Misfortune
Moving Out
Old Man's Journey
One Night Stand
Pan Pan
Return of the Obra Dinn
River City Girls
Stay
Steamworld Heist
The End is Nigh
The Gardens Between
Jackbox 1, and Jackbox 3-6
The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince
The Messenger
The Missing: JJ Macfield and the Island of Memories
The Mummy Demastered
The Red Strings Club
Thumper
Towerfall
Untitled Goose Game
VA-11 Hall-A
Wargroove
Wizard of Legend
Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap

I tend to prefer older shooters since they tend to play a lot faster, but we'll see. I think Titanfall is about the only modern one I've played and was genuinely impressed with.

So Momodora got a lot more manageable after a while, and I definitely made it to the final boss (in the good ending) but that third form is absolute garbage. He kills me in like 2 seconds at that point when the rest of the fight is really easy. Might be done...but I might push through too.

I'm only about an hour into Night Call so far, but it's pretty much my ideal sort of game for winding down right before bed. I don't know if the two sections of the game (cab rides and murder solving) gel together all that well, but it sure finds a great tone in the cab rides, where you just get to sit down and have a conversation with people. Some stories are more compelling than others, but most all of them feel genuine. I really like this one.
