golf I can understand the appeal
it's around a skilled shot
but soccer is genuinely one of the most boring fucking sports I've ever seen and I say it as someone from Europe

I dislike sports in general, but soccer seems like one of the more engaging ones. You at least have actual action for more than two minutes at a time.

How can you find soccer boring? I understand that it really is just guys running up and down a field chasing a ball, but it certainly has its moments.

If you wanna know why people enjoy soccer so much, look up Watford vs Leicester 2013 or Man City vs QPR 2012, those are some of the most exciting moments in soccer.

Also it's much more thrilling to root your favorite club than your favorite golfer.

I definitely agree that supporting a team in a pub with friends is far more fun than a lot of other activities but in general it's just calmly waiting for a chance to be

My problem with football is that the pitch is very long and the action is literally confined to either end
Realistically unless for some odd reason that the defense and potentially midfield aren't available to stop a striker/midfielder then like, I'm just waiting for the ball to maybe go to one end and then maybe something happens

I mean opinions opinions, etc. but the reason soccer is so boring is that there are so few scoring chances during any given game. It's mostly pointless running back and forth.

In football and baseball literally every play is a scoring chance, and football and baseball both have intermediate points before true scores happen (first downs and getting men on base). Even though most pitches don't result in anything, baseball is still more exciting than soccer because of these reasons. Football is vastly more exciting than soccer.

No because hockey rinks are much smaller than soccer fields and there are a lot more scoring chances in hockey games.

Although hockey can suffer sometimes from pointless back and forth skating to be fair. It's just much much worse in soccer.

There's more action in soccer and hockey than in baseball and football. I feel like basing how exciting a sport is by how many points are earned, or how many scoring opportunities there are, is weird. Watching someone bowl a perfect game is still boring af for instance.

I don't watch much soccer at all, but caught a Barcelona match a few years ago and watching Messi play was one of the most compelling things I've ever seen. I suppose the same could be said for watching Tiger win the Masters last year too.

I don't think either is boring. Golf is kind of weird though because I don't really like watching it but also wouldn't call it boring. Soccer *can* be boring but so can any sport.

Soccer/football can definitely be not only boring but outright awful, which is something not many sports share. However, I think the best bits of football are also so much better than most other sports and it's such a varied game compared to almost every other sport. To whoever said football is crap aside from the goals, there's so much good stuff aside from just scoring chances. Watching someone put in a really good tackle when the game isn't great and watching it suddenly come to life is so fun to watch, and end to end games (which are increasingly common, I find) even without lots of goals are just great to watch all the time.
