I've never noticed in theaters, but I guess it's possible for people to notice in restaurants... unless you take a side booth or something. I've done both before, it's not a big deal. I don't know why people get hung up on shit like that.

I've traveled for work for years prior to Covid. Sitting by myself at the bar was fairly common; if the restaurant wasn't too busy I'd ask for a table though.

I rarely pay attention to other people at restaurants unless they're making a scene, which is never someone sitting by themselves. It's usually a big group of drunks being super loud.
