Probably has something to do with their live action shows all being on the CW, and their movies have no direction - they don't seem to actually know what they want to be.

The action in Young Justice has better choreography than any Avengers movie, in my completely honest opinion.

It gets worse with each season. Season 3 is awful. I would rather step in dogshit than watch it all over again.

Honestly the gigantic cast made the season rather unfocused. I enjoyed it when I watched it, but looking back there were certainly problems.

I think it is a lack of executive meddling. When DC is making an animated movie or TV series, they know who their target market is. And that market is nerdy people, mostly men, between the ages of 18-40. People they are no are comfortable with weird concepts, going deep into lore, etc. There is nobody telling creative that something might be too out there and it might alienate the general audience. They are allowed the freedom to be unabashedly comic book.

For better or worse, when you are making a $100+ million budget movie, you can't be quite as focused on a particular target audience. Your goal is to get as many eyes on something as possible. And with the money involved you have a lot more executives worried and involved in the process. And while there definitely is merit to the fact you can't go as pure Comic Book and have the same mass appeal. But by the time the production is done it has been pulled in so many directions that it is formless and doesn't appeal to anyone.

DC has had great cartoons for a long ass time now, why is it so surprising that Young Justice is good lol

DC also has great live-action TV shows, its just the movies that are bad. Its definitely a direction thing at this point

I always knew that animation was their strong suit, but this has me more hooked than even BatmanTAS.

Ehhh, I disagree. They've got a lot of potential but CW have recently been on a spree to screw it up. RIP Arrow, season 1-3.

I'm sad legion of super heroes never got this kind of intention. Rewatching the series it was every bit as good as YJ.

DC tried too hard to make a Justice League movie and forgot to make the lead up movies any good

young justice had attempts at executive meddling but they were ignored
for example artemis and miss martian are awesome
but the creator was told that they couldnt be awesome. they had to be less cool and less important than the male characters because girl toys from action shows dont sell so since they wont get toy sales they shouldnt be focused on

the creator made them just as cool as the guys and made both important to the overall plot of season 1 as a fuck you to the guy who wanted them to be in the background

Part of what makes YJ so good, to me, is that we already have the big heroes doing their own thing and we get glimpses into what they're up to throughout the series without making them the focus.

The MCU is as successful as it is due to a unified vision of just how comic book it wants to go. That doesn't mean that every movie has to have the same tone or do the same things, but the creative types know their boundaries so they can craft the movie they want to with in that space. They movies have a focus that stuff like the DCEU does not.

They literally let Edgar Wright go from Ant-Man because he strayed a little too far from Marvel's formula. Not every movie has the same tone, but they come really, really close. They wouldn't let Raimi make Dr. Strange creepier. They don't take any risks.

Honestly, the cast isn't that big. I've seen people complain that they don't know what's going on with X character in Y episode, but you're not really supposed to. It doesn't matter who Metamorpho is and you don't need to know him, he's just one guy in this one episode to help make the world seem a little broader.

S3 has a massive cast list, but only about a dozen or so are actually main characters.

Well he had the last laugh because the series got canned because of poor toy sales. So the fans in the end didn't really win, and I guess he didn't either but he did have the last laugh.

and id rather a short lived memorable show than a bland long runner
