Finally saw Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and it felt like I was watching a rehash of the Homecoming Spiderman. But after doing research seems it other way around. Homecoming instead of coming up with new ideas took from Miles origin.

Miles in the comics is very bland and has very little defining himself as a character. Spiderverse is probably his best showing as an actual character.

So, probably. Both Miles and MCU Peter are a departure. Peter is just a generic "smart" teenager. Aunt May is not Aunt May, MJ is not MJ, his best friend is Jar Jar/Ganke. I'm just not a fan of him as a character, but the Mysterio fight sequences were cool and the movies had some decent parts.

Besides Ned being Ganke? Not much really. Spectacular Spider-Man had Peter in the same type of school and that was before Miles was even a thought in Bendis' head. There are no other similarities beside the obvious "socially awkward smart kid gets spider powers"

Are you talking about Ganke? I assume that's because every Spider-Man film has taken something from the Ultimate line, chiefly the high school setting.

Ned Leeds = Ganke. A young Aunt May/Parent. He goes to school for gifted minds. Wanting to prove he is a superhero to other superheroes. Probably other stuff.

Young Aunt May was a thing more than a decade before Miles' debut. In the very universe he made his debut even.

Can someone explain who Miles is and his origins as Spider-Man/how he relates to the story? Mostly I know about Spider-Man from the Sam Raimi movies. Into the Spider-Verse is probably the best superhero movie ever made though.

Did some research and found producer even said he had to change up the story since Homecoming took so much from Miles friend.

Read my 1st post. Literally everything you've mentioned are things from Ultimate Spider-Man or the Spectacular Spider-Man cartoon, all long before Miles came around.
The only thing USM didn't have was the magnet school, but that was in the SSM cartoon and is likely were Bendis drew inspiration from for Miles' school.

you mean Ultimate universe? she is younger there, but she's still not as young as she is in the MCU.

in main 616 universe comics, she is like 80

in Ultimate universe she is like 60 maybe

in the MCU she's like 50 or maybe even late 40's

In the early 2000s Marvel created a new universe with updated origins for their characters, the Ultimate universe. Basically Peter got his powers from genetic engineering rather than radiation. This Peter had pretty much his entire career as Spider-Man while he was a teen. He heroically sacrificed himself to save Cap from getting killed IIRC
Somewhere during the later years of his career, Miles was bitten by another tampered spider. Both his and Peter's spider came from Oscorp and Osborn was trying to recreate Spider-Man. It's pretty much the same origin as Into The Spider-Verse without the Kingpin and multiverse shenanigans. Peter's identity was made public after his death, Miles went to his funeral and asked Gwen or MJ (don't recall) why Peter did what he did. They told him and that's when he decided to continue the legacy.
Save for a couple of interactions with Peter's supporting cast, Miles was mostly in his own little corner of that universe. He had a few run-ins with villains like Osborn and Venom, but a few of his own as well. Then his universe got destroyed in an event and now he is in the main universe along with the classic Spider-Man

And? She's the same character. She's not the frail old bitty that can keel over any second. Ultimate May was a hippie in her teens, meaning she was born in the late 40s/early 50s. USM takes place in the early 2000s, so she isn't in her 60s. The actress portraying her in the MCU is in her 50s, so there's basically no difference. The reason why you seem to feel there is, is because USM May had full grey hair.

Regarding Ultimate Peter , I thought he died fighting Green Goblin but was later found to be alive. The Ultimate universe was eventually restored and Peter's back as Ultimate Spidey while Miles lives in the 616 universe. I could be wrong since I don't follow Marvel comics like I do with DC.

-there's a ned/ganke type best friend in into the spider-verse?
-were their schools in both spiderverse/homecoming really for "gifted minds"(smart?) people?
-i can see proving stuff to other heroes though but in homecoming it's more like proving something towards his mentor which is a pretty common trope

anyways to me it seems like you're combining events from both the comic book and into the spiderverse instead of homecoming pulling a lot from spiderverse.

It's been years since I've read it, but IIRC he took a bullet for Cap while Goblin was trying to kill May & co at May's house. Peter quickly made his way there, took Goblin down with his last bit of strength and then died from his wounds. He did eventually return, but that was only a bit before the event where the Ultimate universe got erased. I don't follow Marvel as much as I do DC as well. I do recall reading something about the Ultimate universe still being out there, but as far as I know no comics or stories have used that setting since Miles, his cast and a few others like The Maker (Evil Reed Richards) got transferred to 616

I only saw it the one time in theaters but I think yes. but he's barely there. it's his room mate if I remember right at the boarding school or whatever. he's only on screen for like less than 10 minutes in the whole movie I think. but he will probably be a bigger role in Spider-Verse 2

No, they lived in different parts of the city. Went to different schools. And Ultimate Peter is about 4-5 years older than Miles.

IIRC he didn't even gave Spider-Man much thought until he got bitten. He was afraid and didn't feel like he should go be a hero. Then he learned that Spidey was this regular kid who felt that "with great power yadayada" and that inspired him to get over himself and continue the legacy

Some fans made an impressively done motion comic with voice acting of Peter's last story arc in the Ultimate universe. Check it out if you feel like it
