I think where I struggle is that I don't really have a good idea for what's new that we could bring to F-Zero that would really turn it into a great game again. . . We see a lot of other designers who are kind of making more traditional racing-style games, so we try to focus on something that feels a little bit more gamey. So maybe if we create a new type of controller interface and we find that controller interface is particularly suited for F-Zero, then maybe well do something again with it in the future. - Shigeru Miyamoto

Translation = We don't want to make F-Zero unless we implement a stupid gimmick around it like motion controls or some shit that will otherwise ruin the game (Star Fox Zero). And we all blast Konami for wasting their stagnant IPs >___>

30th anniversary is next month. Nintendo just hates fun. GX is already a perfect formula. Just add new tracks, new characters, track editor, a new story mode, and thats it. Its on the Switch so people are going to buy the game.

Online death race would be fun, too.

I understand that innovation is helpful to making progress but like, I can't stand the unflinching obsession that some devs have with it.

Like, if you can find a way to make your product really innovative and new, that's great. But the fact that there's a stigma attached to "This plays like the last game" is honestly pretty shit.

There's nothing wrong with familiarity, especially if it's just to bump something from the dead. Like, given the difference between a series like F-Zero just not existing anymore, and getting a new entry that's just GX with better graphics, I'd take the latter everytime.

While i can appreciate nintendo trying to innovate and not rehashing the same stuff over and over, it can be frustrating that they feel the need to reinvent the wheel for certain franchises. They ruined paper Mario with it. They almost ruined metroid with it. Kirby has been very hit or miss lately. Now theyre using it as an excuse to not do F Zero.

Just make some fucking tracks, add a few racers and maybe power ups and Ill fucking buy it.

Just add online and more tracks. Maybe even an extra long track. Maybe add some Mario Kart courses (like Rainbow Road). Track editor could be great too.

Sony released a Wipeout for PS4 which keeps the core gameplay and has nicer graphics along with tracks and ships from the older games plus new ones.

Nintendo should just follow the same route. no need to reinvent the wheel... specially when nobody wants that! lol

Yeah, Nintendo is wildly out of touch with this one. No one likes gimmicks like that and would be happy with more of the same from GX with a few improvements.

At least nintendo still remembers it existed what with captain falcon always being a rep for it in smash bros, and also got to have mute city and big blue get added to mario kart 8 as dlc tracks...with really awesome music.

Now startropics and it's sequel?....these are games damn near everyone forgot exists. I have always wanted to get a modern reimagining of the games , but all these games got for a slight reminder that they were even a thing was a trophy in smash bros. brawl I believe it was.

Startropics was cool, damn it =(

Regarding all your demands for track editors, new vehicles, etc, that was apparently a thing with F-Zero Climax which when I made this topic had no idea existed and it's also canonically the final F-Zero game post-GX and GP Legend. Only in goddamn Japan though unless playable via emulation

Oh yeah Nintendo's excuse about innovation sounds like absolute horseshit here if you think about Wipeout HD Collection's fully implemented and stable 60fps VR for single player and online multiplayer. I still play that occasionally and Wipeout's basically been Sony's response to F-Zero fans who've been wanting a new game for forever now.

*edit* forgot to say Wipeout HD also had motion controls too. What other gimmicks can a futuristic racing game have besides that and VR lol.
