I think it's because this new animation doesn't have that much shading as the original... but Steven Spielberg admitted that Animaniacs back then had a huge budget in comparison to what it's getting now. But yeah I really do hope the other skits make it back in.

not gonna lie, I'm a bit disappointed that it looks like we're only getting the Warners and pinky and the brain. they haven't even hinted at anyone else.

I knew Rita and runt were out, they had a hard enough time getting Bernadette Peters in the 90s. the goodfeathers are sadly dated. not too chuffed about buttons and mindy. Hello Nurse, sadly, will court lots of negative press in today's climate. no scratchnsniff or plot, though? thats odd.

But dammit where's slappy and skippy!? we need Skippy grown up, being that "90s kid" shitting on the gen z's. We need someone to make an "ok boomer" crack at slappy, before she stuffs their pants with dynamite to show em what a "boomer" is really all about. this shit writes itself!

Guess we'll have to wait and see. I can't imagine they don't call back to them during the show, but I do doubt we're getting full shorts with them. Fingers crossed, though.

From what I've heard, Scratchnsniff and Ralph will return, but Plotz and Hello Nurse won't. Neither will Slappy, Mindy, Chicken Boo, or Rita and Runt.

Slappy was like the Grandma on "The Golden Girls" but in cartoon form. I hope she comes back.

I'm super sad about Rita. Maybe they can get her for one episode for Season 2?

Re: Rita and Runt, I remember hearing they won't bring back characters they couldn't get the original voices to return for. So maybe that doesn't just apply for Rita but other characters as well? Maybe the Goodfeathers VAs couldn't or wouldn't return either.

I would like to see Slappy and the Goodfeathers return so maybe someday. I don't miss the hippos, Buttons and Mindy, or Chicken Boo tho

Anyway my best friend from childhood has been geeking out all day on social media lol. This was literally our show we grew up on. So many fond memories of watching the show and talking about it on the playground the next day.

Really really hope they get this right.

I think they rather avoid any form of controversy and make sure the show is a success. Though I could see them using her for some #metoo episode or something. It won't be totally out of character for the show to tackle controversial issues like that.

Netflix tries too hard to find their next Stranger Things, because that show brought in major numbers and subscriptions that almost no other new show would be able to compete against.

People chalk it up to "modern sentiments" about depictions of women.

That may have influenced their choice with excluding Hello Nurse. Either that or she just happened to be one of a number of characters not returning. Considering Ralph and Dr. Scratchnsniff are supposed to return and she was part of that gang, i suspect the former.
