Just finished Day of the Tentacle, it was fun, like an episode of a cartoon. I liked the style of humour it had. Once you figure out one piece of the puzzle, its pretty satisfying when things start falling into place and you know exactly what to do next, and so on.

What are some fun point and clicks I can try out next? Before this I really only played more guided adventure games/visual novels like Ace Attorney, Professor Layton and Life is Strange. And Zelda and the Lampshade of No Real Significance

If you liked Day of the Tentacle, maybe try out Maniac Mansion. Day of the Tentacle is the sequel.

The Monkey Island games are good, along with Full Throttle.

If you want more of a puzzle aspect, there are the Myst games. Theyve aged a bit, but Im a fan of 7th Guest and 11th Hour.

If you have a Wii or Wii U, then Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure is fun.

A lot of recent games of that genre have you controlling the main character, but they still play very similarly. Most of the Telltale games (Walking Dead, Batman, Back to the Future) would fall under this. And Life is Strange got a lot of critical acclaim.

I played through all the Broken Sword games a few years ago and had a blast. Some of the games (3 and 4?) are in 3D and that can be a little jarring for fans of the older styles, but the humor is always there, so it's easy to have fun.

BTW, speaking of Monkey Island games, the five-part Tales from Monkey Island was FANTASTIC in terms of humor. I never see it mentioned as much as the older, 2D-style games, but it was pretty damn funny and well worth playing.

Just started Broken Sword on DS about a month ago. The background artwork is very Layton-esque and makes me miss that series. The character artwork isn't as consistent or solid though, and of course less basis in puzzling.

move all remaining groundhog mercenaries to the front lines. Have sheep troopers squadrons A and B flank the cows. They're using DC-17 hoof blasters.

Maniac Mansion is literally playable within Day of the Tentacle, which is a really cool touch. Looks a lot more dated but Ill get around to it. Ive also got Broken Age but seeing as how thats a kickstarter revival of the genre, I want to get a few more of the classics under my belt before playing it. Also have Grim Fandango and ive heard good things

Playing Broken Sword games outside of PC is probably going to be hit or miss. Gotta have those voiceovers and stuff, which are missing from some versions. I think Steam sold all the games as a bundle for cheap ($5 or so) at some point, so that's when I'd pounce on it.

Grim Fandango is a stone-cold classic. The remaster was given out free on PS+ a few years back, so maybe check to see if you have that before buying it on PC.

Are you interested in classic style newer games?
http://www.agdinteractive.com/games/games.html
made several remakes of the classic King's Quest games, and there's a free game on steam called Heroine's Quest which is amazing.

King's Quest 6 and Gabriel Knight 1 are must plays. GK3 is good as well imo.

  • Monkey Island games
  • Sanitarium - This is a really screwed up but fun game.
  • Grim Fandango
  • Gabriel Knight series (originals available on GOG)
  • Police Quest series
  • Maniac Mansion
  • Indiana Jones and... whatever - there's like half a dozen old Win3.1/Win95 Indiana Jones point-and-click adventure games
  • The Hugo Trilogy (on GOG)

Not all of 'em are like.... super humorous but they are really fun imo.

Also this is a dumb recommendation but Runescape's quests are *all* like class point-and-click adventure games and they're full of terrible puns and dad jokes to boot.

I've only played one Gabriel Knight game (Sins of the Fathers, IIRC), but it was pretty great.

I used to love Police Quest, but I think it's so old it didn't even have point and click. You moved with the arrow keys and had to literally type out every command.

The Trilby trilogy is also awesome, if a little different in tone from DotT.

The Space Quest series has a lot of humor in it, but first couple games have pretty dated graphics

Gemini Rue and Thimbleweed Park are a bit newer

I second Space Quest I forgot to mention it. They are all very playable but part of the humor is how easy it is to die, so just remember if you think it's unfair, it probably is.

I liked playing Lighthouse and the space quest series back in the day, I think just space quest 2 and 3 use a text parser but the rest are point and click
