Yes when people are getting evicted and homeless they will remember this in the next few decades. They will never ever want to be at mercy of landlords and homelessness and will go hard left.

Evictions should be permanently ended and landlords' "property" should return to the rightful ownership of the government to be handed out to people for free.

Uh no... That government should be building housing though. Also people should stop living in expensive areas. When they only make enough to scrap by. Wouldn't be against the government helping people move to areas where job creators are having hard time finding people as long as there is affordable living areas around the work place. If everything is expensive then the job creators fucked up on their location and can go pound salt.

Businesses are still laying off and furloughing as well.

This situation is going to going to go beyond bad unless the CA state legislature scrambles to come up with something.

No housing is a human right that the government should provide for free.

I don't want anyone to be homeless.

How the hell are landlords supposed to live and run a business without rent tho?

Living in Cali I wouldn't even own a home. Weather is so nice you could literally live in a tent. The only thing that would suck is when it gets too hot.

well I can tell you for San Diego we have this really interesting problem of having a huge job market while simultaneously dealing with all the rich people in Carlsbad and Del Mar being the ones who vote against all development projects.

so I mean, its not like people cant afford to live here for any actual good reason.

I agree that housing should be a right and the studies do show that it's less burden on the government to just give people some form of supportive housing rather than pay for them to be homeless.

But I don't think that automatically means private homeowners and landlords need to sacrifice their own investments and property to provide that supportive housing.

There are a lot of facets to this issue and it goes beyond just "someone deserves a free house so we're going to take a house from someone who owns two". That's communism.
