still TLoU2, for me, but GoT is really good.

I don't like the stealth, though, since the enemy AI isn't so great in that department, but the combat is really dope.

New gameplay mechanics are introduced as the game progresses. You cant even get Ghost Stance until Act II. You cannot get the grappling hook within the first 5 hours unless you rush from one main objective to the next and ignore all side content. Nice try, though.

combat
bamboo cutting minigame
collectibles
linear, uncharted-style climbing sequences

that is quite literally all there is, start to finish, and you experience all of that within the first five hours. there is zero mission variety, it's always a walk-and-talk/follow these tracks into a combat encounter and while the writing is nice in spots, it is mostly just as rote and uninspired as the gameplay

the bisexual murder grandma is not enough to carry the late ps3-era open world gameplay that tsushima is saddled with

This is a silly thing to say considering that the prologue is followed by tens of hours of open world stuff that you havent had time to experience and possibly been fatigued by.

Also, the prologue is easily the weakest part of the game so far and it's kind of bad, so double weird.

I dont agree with the negativeness of the assessment, but its very true that GoT is very much your generic open world game for better or worse

i dont think the prologue gives an accurate portrayal of that, since, like most open world games, its starts out with a cool linear action sequence

This logic is flawed as you can apply it to many games. Most games introduce the "core experience" within the first few hours and proceed to build upon them from there. For instance, gaining several different stances in the game to deal with enemy types or gaining new tools to mess with your enemies. For you to say the player experiences everything the game as to offer gameplay-wise within the first few hours is a straight lie.

>zero mission variety.

While many missions are combat oriented, you also have missions that are entirely stealth focused. I just completed a side quest where you had to stealth the entire time and not engage in combat.

>bisexual murder grandma

Not sure what Masako's sexual orientation has to do with anything but please take my advice and play the video games you shit on instead of watching your favorite nobody Twitch streamer play through them for you. Perhaps then you'll have legitimate criticism as there are flaws with the game. However, you failed to name any significant one. If you criticized the rudimentary stealth mechanics, dumb A.I., noticeably awful lip syncing for Japanese voice option, or lack of story/character interaction changes if you played solely as the honorable samurai or dishonorable Ghost, then I'd happily agree with you.

I'm fairly far into Act 2 and I whole heartedly disagree. The game is a lot of fun, absolutely beautiful and the combat is great but it isn't even close to as polished at TLoU2. There area lot of weird bugs, the AI is pretty stupid a lot of the time. It's Assassins Creed Samurai Edition and I've been wanting that for years. This hasn't disappointed. A lot of people praised the story and even claimed the main and side quests were better than TW3 but again I disagree.

TLoU2 is easily my GOTY and currently my GOTG. Hope Cyberpunk some how takes that spot though.

I was really interested at first but I keep hearing things that have killed my enthusiasm. Aparently it's a pretty game but it's another generic open world game similar to assassins creed with bad stealth and poor AI.

generic, by the numbers, open world action games are being called GOTY left and right

is this really what the AAA gaming world has come to

I have a bit of open world fatigue myself but when I see a well made game I have to give the studio their props. Like I said in another topic, every AAA game doesn't have to reinvent the wheel. Is the game made well? Yes. Does it look good? Yes. Is the combat nice and fun to play? Yes. Is the music, graphics, lighting, world design and art direction all excellent? Yes. Is the storyline good and are the main sidequests engaging? Yes. The game is ambitious and is damn good for a first try.

My main gripes would be the AI for stealth, TLOU2 did it better. The other thing is the wide panning shots when talking to non-important NPCs for sidequests. You could barely see who you were talking to. Horizon Zero Dawn for example had full closeup animations of their sidequests, made the game have you feel more of a connection to the character that you're helping.

It's not GOTY to me (my vote would go to TLOU2), top contender though.

^ I feel like the bad AI only really feels like an issue during stealth.

during combat, it's pretty good, IMO; the enemies can be really aggressive, and you can find yourself overwhelmed if you underestimate them.

I think it's pretty overrated. Cyberpunk will be the best. LOU2 was a real turnoff. This game is getting hyped because it looks good and isn't as polarizing. It's not that good.

I like how Halo Infinite looks too. I think Cyberpunk or that. Halo could make a nice comeback. Too bad I don't have an xbone.

I can't really argue with Doom Eternal. I haven't played it but it seems to hit at the right time with all these other huge boring games. That and Nioh 2 and this is probably Doom's year. Who knows though the media isn't always logical these days. Doom makes sense to me.

I'm loving it so far. The bad stealth AI doesn't even matter to me because I always run in guns.... swords? blazing anyways.

It's also by far the prettiest game I've ever seen, like holy shit dude. Everywhere I go it's eye candy.
